A & W - Edmonton, Alberta

Ordered a Whistle Dog. It came with no Ketchup or mustard - dry so I threw it away. Requested no bag, was charged a bag and received one. Needed to ask for napkins at drive through.

We arrived during a point when this location was fairly empty, I think one group was sitting in, but the place was pretty dirty. First impressions were a bit lackluster. My first guess was that it was just the area, but then I came to realize, when an employee did ... wipe down two tables, that it was just the one swipe, and most of the tables and much of the floor was dirty. All that aside though the food was delicious, came out as we ordered it, was well seasoned and flavourful, and the frozen root beer was good. I made an order and I picked it up at the end of my drink. I found a packet of syrup at the bottom of my drink. I’m not going to complain, but that’s not not acceptable.

Not very happy ordering my Mozza burgers without tomatoes and then getting two of them *with* the tomatoes even though my receipt clearly shows that they should have been no tomatoes. I'm allergic to raw tomatoes, so thankfully my friend who was also eating mozza's just took the tomatoes off ... of these ones to eat them. Also, why *TWO* bag charges on only one order? My cousin from the US was visiting and he had never eaten at an A&W before, so after visiting the air museum nearby we stopped in for lunch. I personally really like A&W, their food is great, its good quality and its still a fast food chain so its not bogged ... down by all the pretense of a craft burger joint. Their onion rings are great and the uncle burger with cheddar and bacon, delicious. My only issue is the bathroom at this location just smelled horrible. I'm guessing given the downtown/north side location its a struggle for the staff to keep on top of homeless people ruining the place. The staff were nice and the eating area was clean, just that bathroom, eww, the smell of urine. Read more
