Vera’s Burger Shack - Edmonton, Alberta

Love this place! This is easily the best fast food you'll get in Rogers Place and possibly all of downtown. The burgers are always fresh and great. Lots of options tp customize your burger - most of which are free! I am a season ticket holder for the Oilers and ... think this is the best bang for the buck you'll get. Been to 4 games this year and eaten here 3x. Combo will be about $17 but it includes a mess of fries and bottom-less pop. Fill up here, eat your food at one of the tables overlooking the public arena and head into the game stuffed. Burger was good and poutine was always great. Last game we went there we got there right when it started, stopped at Vera's for a poutine, asked if we could take it inside (thinking they would know if anything) and they said yes we could. Sure enough, get to the ... gate and they stopped us, game was already well under way so ditched the $9 in food i had just bought. You'd think being on the concourse they'd know if people can't bring in their food, only reason i went to Vera's is because the food inside the arena is way worse.. Read more

Ordered Gateway burger and onion rings and Dasani water. $10, $6.50, $2.5. Burger was average, better than a fast food place. Onion rings had a good flavor but was really greasy; hard to eat more than a few. Any beverage was $2.50 or more. I recommend you bring your own or buy elsewhere. Wait ... time was ok. I was the first to order at lunch rush. Cashier was friendly. Cook doesn't wear hairnet. Not really concerned. Looked like a clean person. Just an observation. I arrived at 11:55am on a Friday, lone woman working was not ready and apologized that she just opened, despite their Friday opening hour was 11:00. I order a burger and poutine. She went on to turn on the grill and prepare the food, and also took 4 other orders ... that came after. This was poorly organized. Other guests who ordered a soda had to ask them to turn on the fountains. I get that the place can be slow when no events are happening, but during the lunch hour at least have the grill ready to fire up those burgers. I got my burger and poutine 25 minutes later. If the burger wasn't better than average and the amount of fries in my poutine was less I would have given Vera's a 1 star review. The beef was good, the fries though we're crispier than I would of liked. I don't see how this place plus the Pinkberry are gonna survive. Starbucks has its audience and being the only coffee shop in ice district, wait until Tim Hortons opens in Edmonton tower this summer. I don't recommend Vera's. Service is slow, food isn't bad, but it isn't worth it. I could have easily walked to city centre mall's food court and had quicker and better service and food. But it being one of the few choices to eat in Rogers Place; other being Atlas steak and fish, Match, and inside the arena during events. These food choices aren't great. I am very much looking forward to the Oliver & Bonacini restaurants opening next year. Ice district eats are gonna be awesome. Sadly, Vera's isn't awesome. Read more

Love the franchise and was pumped to see it in Edmonton. First trip was sub-par as I went over lunch and they weren't ready for the rush. Additionally, the area they are located in has no seating.
