Umi Sushi Express - Calgary, Alberta

It's decent sushi for Calgary. Not to bad on the price, portions sizes were reasonable. I lived in Vancouver for a long time so I judge based on what Ive had in Vancouver. Tbh, not much has come close, as far as quality/quantity/portion ratio is concerned. But ... to be fair... Vancouver is a port city, so you would expect fresh decent fish at a decent price. Worst sushi place in history. Employees that work there aren't one bit polite. I’ve come to this location 3 times. Every time there wasn’t fresh sushi in the display fridge. I asked them politely if they could make me some more. All three times I’ve been told no and given ... an excuse. Last time I was told I should have come an hour earlier. I ended up shaking my head at the man and walking away. I believe business like these shouldn’t survive. Not to mention I am trying to support them during these hard times. Their Tonkutsu Ramen is good, should have more veggies in it though, maybe double the size of veggies. Yam fries is a little greasy and heavy on batter.

Have ordered from them in the past and it was always great. Ordered today to go and the packaging is absolutely shameful. All food just dropped in a box and just put teriyaki dipping sauce all in the bottom so by the time you even get it, your food is ... soggy and disgusting. Also removed all pork items from their menu, definitely a shame. Disgraceful packaging even for to go. Read more

Favorite place to grab lunch when at the Southcenter Mall. Their Bento boxes and bubble teas make a very filling lunch out.
