Many of the reviews for MRU don’t shine the best light on that institution at all. If I may add my thoughts on their admission fee timeline… it seems very suspicious that they demand payment a good month before most higher calibre universities give out their own notification !! ... Sure sounds like they plan it this way to collect a non-refundable deposit for registration in MID-APRIL when most of the other reputable schools usually don’t figure out who they can accept until May or June… What’s up with that MRU? Did you figure out a way to hold potential applicants hostage for them to just forfeit their deposit? Sounds a little scammy to me 🤬. If nobody else has called them out, well please let me do it. Would be interested to hear who else feels this way. And MRU wonders why they aren’t the primary choice for first year students 🙄 Read more

A waste of time. I graduated, but felt nothing productive came from the experience. If I was interested in a class or program and wanted to know about it, they would sell me a program to head to about more programs to take. They would have classes, grade point averages that I ... was told I had to have, and then a year later the rules changed and I now had to either have a higher average or take more classes. The admissions don't take much interest when you ask questions like "I'm interested in going this route. What do I need specifically to get there?" They just didn't seem to care. I wanted to get into a journalism program, all I was told was I needed a specific grade point average, needed to send the dean a letter indicating why I should be admitted. I learned I had to take a placement exam I couldn't study for to test reading comprehensive skills. I also have issues with dyslexia. You apparently need 80% to pass. I scored 78% this rule is ridiculous. I asked the Dean why I was rejected. He left a non descriptive voice mail stating "that's how it is." More than a few times I had a class recommended, I had profs that gave unclear reviews of what expectations must be or in some cases, had a very serious language problem to communicate to the class. There's very high expectations of students to jump through this system. They don't seem to have expectations of themselves to ensure they did all they could to make sure students are ready and prepared for the careers of their choice. I think kids heading to this school hopefully have personal direction where they're going, because this school wants your money, don't care to stay on top of anything, and would love to take years out of your life to take classes that get you nowhere.
