Original Joe’s Restaurant & Bar - Calgary, Alberta

First time to an Original Joe's today, while we were visiting Calgary Tower. VERY quick walk and VERY short distance to this amazing restaurant from the tower. Outside is appealing, the inside is even cooler! Ordered the beef dip and Carolina pulled pork sandwiches with sides of Poutine ... and fries. The only minor thing I can say, is the au jus was very bland, not much flavor. Overall very impressed with the food. The Service was wonderful. The dining experience at Original Joe's was awesome! I was out with a friend one night and we landed on eating here. We were both seated immediately upon entry with no delay and were given the chance to pick our own seats (which for some reason doesn’t happen often in ... other restaurants). The food was excellent and our service was fantastic! Bonus points to the waitress, whose name was (Alicia) according to the receipt... I hope it's accurate, because Alicia was extremely friendly, courteous, and engaging! She was knowledgeable about the Calgary area and the menu, giving us some great recommendations! Speaking of the menu, I must commend the designer! I love the edition of allergen and nutritional facts posted on the official site for the restaurant, enabling a healthy, easy decision when dining out! Please don’t change it! I ordered their Steak Sandwich, which was delicious and appetizing and for a fair price! I also ordered wings, which I shared with a friend. They were tasty and plentiful! The service was a bit slow even though it wasn't busy, but our server was very friendly. I tried the Buffalo Chicken wrap with poutine and Caesar salad on the side. The portions were generous, and the Caesar salad was tasty, but the chicken wrap didn't seem very fresh. ... Overall, it was an okay experience for a one-time visit, but I don't think I'll be back. My first time in Calgary and this was the place that caught my eye to have a bite. I loved the atmosphere, the 80's and 90's music, the food. This was the first place we went to eat after getting off of our flight into Calgary. The food was 10/10 delicious and our server Maranda was so sweet and kind! We had the chicken gyoza (which EVERYONE should try) as an appetizer with a French onion soup and a ... Nashville spicy chicken sandwich. I would recommend this for anyone looking a chill vibe/sports bar!! The prices were also super reasonable, and it’s in a great spot in downtown Calgary within walking distance to lots of little shops and the Calgary tower!
