A hidden gem in Old Pickering Village is Casa Verde Ristorante. Family owned and run business shows their love in everything they do. Went with a large group to celebrate a birthday. Oh the warm bread! Food was excellent. Shared appetizers, which were large enough for more than two people. ... Everyone enjoyed dipping the fresh bread into the broth from the mussels. All of the scrumptious mains were brought out at the same time. Nothing was left over. Somehow we managed to save room for some of the best desserts we have ever had. The creme caramel was so silky. Excellent food. Wait, staff was being trained but did well. There are too many people on the phone and background noisy. Not necessarily intimate dining, but such is our restaurant culture. Told making reservations we (party of 4) could have the table for two hours . ... Yes, reservations were at peak at 6 pm on a weekday... but the restaurant had many empty tables at 8. Must be a reservations policy. Two hours was not enough time for coffee and dessert as the food from the kitchen took 45 minutes of our time slot. Food was worth the wait and perfect. Love this place! Love the fact it’s family run! The food is always incredible. They have spectacular Calamari - one of the best in the region! Great Caesar Salad! Loved the pasta as it was all very fresh and cooked perfectly.

We’re long time residents in the area and ate here years ago and just never got around to coming back… until tonight and we were certainly happy to be back. We dined with another couple and had seats on the west side next to the windows so enjoyed the nice ... sunshine and sun going down. We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and really good food. I had a rigatoni with cauliflower dish and my wife had veal scaloppine piccata, both quite good, but a highlight was the special salad for the evening - a spinach salad with onions and carrots and mushrooms. We also enjoyed a tiramisu - also very good. All in all we had a good time and enjoyed the food and will certainly be back - hopefully sooner next time! Read more

If you know, you know. It's easy to miss Casa Verde due to its location, but this is one of the best Italian spots in the area. It's a small, cozy, family-run restaurant. The service was superb as the waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. All the dishes I ... tried were excellent. I enjoyed the crab cakes special, veal parmigiana, and the creme caramel dessert. It may seem a bit pricey, but it was worth it for the quality food and overall experience. My only criticism is that I found it a bit dark inside the restaurant, but otherwise I highly recommend trying Casa Verde! Read more
