Had the smoked salmon Benny and tomato soup.. Was all very fresh and delicious... Really great breakfast! Price is right too! Server was super friendly and efficient. I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere because it was really cold in there. Otherwise, cute little spot. Will definitely be going back ... again soon! Read more
Was not at all happy with this restaurant today. The previous owners really took pride in customer service & satisfaction & they were diligent on efficiency & accuracy. This was our 2nd visit back since new owners took possession. 1. Cealing leaking water from light fixtures & they had buckets & ... towels to catch dripping water. 2. I ordered a Monte Cristo Sandwich on sourdough with hashbrowns with gravy. My husband ordered the Denver omelet with hashbrowns. He received his meal & omelet looked like it was dropped, picked up & dumped on plate, covered up with cheese to hide disaster. His hashbrowns were very oily. My meal took a long time & when it came to the table, it had wrong bread (white), fries & no gravy. The bread was SUPER soggy & very sweet like there was syrup in it. The fries were also very oily & soggy. Not good at all. The waitress did offer to have my meal remade, but I declined as I did not want to wait longer to eat, as my husband had already finished half his plate by the time mine arrived. Waitress did bring us a small sandwich with sourdough to go, which we appreciated & why she was left an 8$ tip. Water is just tap water & strongly tastes like heavy bleach. The benches are all solid wood now, too, with no seat cushions anymore, so if u have tailbone issues, back issues, or trouble sitting on hard surfaces, don't sit in booth. Would have been nice had they just replaced the soft cushions on benches. Also, this cafe was at one time very well known for its huge portions for fair prices, but those days are long gone. Portions are now small, & prices are high. $40 with tip for 2 meals, & 2 water. Read more
Stopped to have brunch after a walk at the river. So adorable my son said “it’s like eating at gramma’s house” we both enjoyed the Matsqui special Breakfast, very yummy nice crisp bacon! What really stood out was how good the service was. Very friendly and accommodating. ... Can’t wait to go back to try another dish. Read more
I went to Matsqui Cafe on a Thursday. The first thing I noticed was the natural homey aesthetic of the restaurant interior. I had the Bulgogi Benedict with hashbrowns. The bulgogi meat along tasted fantastic and the rest of the benedict tasted great with it. The hashbrown were also good ... as well. The coffee was average, I thought it could have tasted better. My only other complaint is that this cafe is not open on Sundays and Mondays. I found the staff to be friendly enough. I still recommend Matsqui Cafe for anyone who likes to try something new. I know I would be coming back there. Read more
I used to go here as a kid and the food was not that good. However since the new owners have opened back up, I am very impressed. The interior has the same look and feel as before but the food quality has improved immensely. I have only been a ... few times but I have enjoyed each meal I have ordered. They now have an espresso machine which I enjoy. The bathroom was also clean and in good condition. This is mine and my grandmother's new favorite place. Update: my grandmother comes here once a week that's how good it is. Read more
