City Heart East Indian Cuisine - Winnipeg, Manitoba

There are so many great East Indian restaurants in Winnipeg and this place is NOT one of them. I would not recommend this place. I have been twice (about 1 year apart) and both times was disappointed. The last time I went, the food seemed like it was sitting out ... for a while, even though it was noon. No chicken in the butter chicken. Glassware and utensils were dirty and stained. Apparently there was a flood in the kitchen (according to the server) and as a result, they could not make naan bread. He did offer us roti, which was inconsistent each time it was brought out. We were also charged extra for this, which was not mentioned beforehand. I asked for drinks and never received them. It was not that busy in the restaurant. The washrooms were not clean and there was loud music blaring throughout our meal, which was odd and annoying. There are so many better places to go. There needs to be some change in management, as no one who thinks this is an acceptable way to run a restaurant, should be running a restaurant. Read more

The food is always amazing. I often go with my father and 4 year old. The staff always gives a little more than expected to entertain and make my little one smile. They are always welcoming and it often feels like dining with family friends.

The food was excellent. The goat curry was very tasty and tender. Five stars on the food! However I have to take two stars away for the lack of cleanliness. The tables were not wiped, and the plates at the buffet counter weren't very clean. I had ... to pick through to find some without dried stuck-on bits of food. I have eaten at this restaurant many times. Ever time the service is great and the food is always served fresh, it's filling and wholesome. I bring my family and friends here to. The staff here really care about the food they make and serve. The atmosphere is welcoming and ... like a big family. They have catered to my staff meetings to. Even my boss likes their food! Best Indian food in the city at a great price point. comoletwly perfect. I went last night and had the palak paneer and it was utterly fantastic. He added the perfect amount of spice that I had requested be added and it was the best I've tasted. Fluffy hot ... naan that was brought to the table one after another.
