Friends and I met for dinner here after work. It was very busy when we arrived but we were able to get a table. The server was also very busy and as the evening went on, her service to our table got worse. While we enjoyed our pizzas, as soon ... as the mains were delivered, the server slapped our bill on the table and then virtually ignored us. She actually turned her head and averted her eyes when she passed by our table on several passes to other tables in the area. As my friends and I had wanted to order dessert, I eventually had to half stand out of my chair and wave at her behind the bar in order for her to approach. When she did, she was borderline rude with a touch of sarcasm. I told her we were interested in dessert and coffees but that she had already brought us our bill. We placed a dessert and coffee order and when she returned she sarcastically asked if that "would be all"? My friends and I could not believe what we experienced from this server. There seemed no reason to treat us with attitude although we intuited that she wanted our table for other diners who were waiting to be seated. It was some of the most awful service/attitude from a server I've ever experienced, at any restaurant. When we went to pay, the bill had to be recalculated because we were paying separately and the bill had been lumped together as one. This neighbourhood hole in the wall is always busy and with good reason. Great food. Maybe the owner could spring for at least one more staff person per shift. Everyone is run off their feet causing a lot of issues. You feel invisible the first fifteen min. waiting for a ... table. No one even says hello. Tables don't always see a cleaning between settings. Numerous remnants of breakfast and earlier lunches can be found stuck to the sides of and underneath the tables. Your food may be forgotten and finally served by another staff who is going table to table to see who ordered it. Some orders are never placed. A totally wrong order may easily appear. Bring your own zip lock bag to take away leftovers unless you have an extra half hour to wait for a server to bring a take away box. Some of the staff are wonderful. Tip them well. My GAWD by far the BEST homestyle meals!!! HUGE servings!!!TOP QUALITY service and the BEST freaking housemate pizza out does Santa Lucia ANYDAY and fair priced NEXT LEVEL QUALITY!! Proud they are in my community and I get to reap the benefits of their AMAZING Food!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

All I gotta say is OMG! The food is fantastic and more than you can eat at a great price. I ordered the steak and eggs, with breakfast potatoes and onions... look a the picture, the plate was loaded, I couldn't eat all the potatoes. The steak ... was a tenderloin to boot. For the price, it was well worth it. I ordered a side of bacon and expected 3 or 4 strips and I got a plate full. This place is a must if you like good food, great quantities, good service, and great prices. For a family run restaurant in Winnipeg, they're number one in my book. I will be back! Read more

Still not going out much, but a chance to reconnect with old friends and work mates could not be missed. I grew up just down Dudley from the Grill so it was a chance to revisit old haunts. Of course it is not the same as it was ... 50 years ago, but it was a nice place still. The rating is mostly due to the price I guess. The staff were wonderful, the place was packed for lunch but they let us grab a big table in the back and eat and gab with no try to rush us out, coffee refills and nice people. The food is really good diner selection and quality, I'm not allowed to eat much anymore but found the quantity more than enough. I had a BLT with fries and slaw with a side of gravy, plus coffee of course. Maybe I'm out of touch now, but the bill came to over $20.00 and I find that high.
