Went to the regent location this evening just befor they closed. It has been a few years since I have been to Smoke's. I ordered the prime beef deluxe. The combo with the toppings was good. I found that it was way to salty and couldn't quench my thirst ... all evening. The cheese curds were like rubber and the price was quite high for the portion I got. I'd give this a solid 4.5 stars. The only reason it doesn't get the full 5 is that the gravy just isn't quite hot enough to melt the curds all the way. The pros; the cheese has that beautiful squeaky feel to it, solid umami flavour with the beef gravy, ... fries are not soft at all, and the bacon that I had with mine was a great texture. Service was quick and prompt. Unfortunately the food had zero taste, curds not really melted not to cheesy at all. Definitely not enough bang for your buck

The traditional poutine was not good at all. The fries were under cooked, the cheese curds had the texture of soft solid rubber, and the brown gravy was really bland. As a gravey lover and conosuer this is great The portions are huge. For those coming in from south of the border this is something you need to try. Very unique experience. Dont worry there are healthy menu selections as well. I am a poutine fan. Looking forward to my ... next visit. Read more
