I used to be a regular here a few years ago. However, with the management having changed hands at least once since then, the place seems to be going downhill. The chairs and tables were removed from the back section of the café and it looked like they ... were in the process of redoing the floor. I asked the guy behind the counter if they were renovating, and he said that technically, yes they were, but it had been like that for months. MONTHS! In addition to the tables and chairs stacked up in the back, there were chairs sitting on top of the counters at the front by the windows. I could understand this if they had just opened in the morning, but this was in the late afternoon! The place doesn't feel very welcoming anymore. You'd think a coffee shop would make sure they do the little things like taking down chairs off the tables and counters would be something to create a welcoming environment. I guess not. It really looks like they are trying to discourage people from sitting down, relaxing and enjoying their coffee. Also, my $2.50 medium coffee was mediocre AF! This place has been around a long time, and it's too bad that the present management's "couldn't be bothered" attitude will likely mean it will eventually close. Read more

Prompt service on a Sunday. I got an iced latte with almond milk. Definitely would come back and it wasn't too crowded.

This location is in its 3rd decade, seen some expansion and has gone through several owners. Back in the 90’s, when it was just a small coffee shop, it was always busy with lots of interesting and varied clientele. The expansion was necessary toward the late 90’s, but with Starbucks ... and Tim Hortons moving in and taking a firm hold on the downtown area, things just kind of went downhill for this location. clean, friendly, decent enough prices, but the new hours are not great. (Believe they are missing a loooot of revenue not being the only coffee shop open after a game/concert/evening out like it used to be before new owners) *the location on river/osborne is not all that good anymore, and may ... be why it closed... unfortunate as it used to be a favored place for a lot of us. Great second cup and location. I think the manager/older gentleman needs to not get so short with customers when he's feeling stressed or flustered - it translates to the customer and leaves a bad impression. He also needs to be a bit nicer to his workers.
