Grace Cafe City Hall - Winnipeg, Manitoba

Very good restaurant hidden within Winnipeg City hall. Varied menu, lots of standard and non-standard choices. The food is ready quickly (you pick it up yourself - no waiting staff, rather a cafeteria style restaurant). Not too busy, so service is fairly fast. Food is good as well.

This cafe is no longer peanut safe (as of Feb. 2018). The menu was completely overhauled and many of the new items contain peanuts. I liked the old menu better, so I reduced the rating from five stars to two.

Went to Grace Cafe with a few friends. The coffee was fine and the pastries delicious if flakey. What disappointed me were the prices. My friend ordered a BLT from the sandwich bar. While they thought the sandwich was delicious, the price left something to be desired. The sandwich alone ... was over $7.00. Read more

This was my first visit to Grace Café City Hall. I was their for a business lunch with three colleagues. The food was good. We just beat the lunch rush. Excellent breakfast sandwiches, real egg and not heavy on salt like fast food restaurants. I love their taco salad too. More expensive but that's because they use real fresh food not previously frozen, heavily salted extra greasy slop. Plus they compost so they are obviously superior to every other Winnipeg restaurant ... that still throws food waste in the trash which could instead be composted and reused. Better for the environment is a big thing now as it should be for every business. I don't mind paying more in order to support businesses that are actually trying to make a bigger difference for the next 7 generations to come. These small things add up and make a big difference with me when I decide where I make purchases. Read more
