Fools & Horses Coffee Company - Winnipeg, Manitoba

I have been to Fools and Horses a number of times at their Broadway location. I like the vibe and staff a lot and while I am not a coffee drinker, the people who go with me to this location say it’s pretty good. I typically order teas (which have ... been pretty good) and food. I like their general philosophy of treating their staff well and renting out their space as an after-hours venue – so it has a good community basis. I would go here more often, but downtown parking is a bit of a pain (so not their fault) and, given its popularity, it can be hard to find seating. We just went there for a quick coffee but ended up also having a cinnamon bun. Both were good but you pay a premium price. I like the location and it's a great place to sit and watch people walk by on the street.

Came here for a coffee, croissant and donut Sunday morning. When I ordered the bacon croissant to go, the staff member that was serving me started digging into the croissant with her tongs to figure out what kind of croissant it was. She still couldn’t figure it out after tearing ... through the layers and told me I could always bring it back if it wasn’t the bacon one. I was too shocked to say anything, so I paid and took my croissant. When I worked at a bakery, we always delivered each pastry and cake to the customer as they would’ve seen it in the display case. She could’ve just cut one in half to figure it out and given me a new one. The kicker is that when I ate the croissant, it was ham and cheese and not bacon. Anyway, I would recommend labelling your baked goods to avoid having to decimate a croissant and to avoid croissant identification issues. They are a great meeting place. If you don't know if you or your friend want coffee or beer/wine, just go there. They have both. They also have some goodies, healthy snack and sandwich. They have a nice little patio during the summer as well.

A good cafe. Licensed too. Great service. The food choice is OK. Not as diverse as some other locations. My only gripe is, the coffee hopper is usually half full. Other locations, use portioned by weight, sealed in a jar. This half full hopper ever so slightly diminishes the freshness. ... It is the slight details that stand out the most. Read more
