I have not been here for several years and while the place definitely needs a face lift due to aging design, damaged walls and smudgy mirrors as well as smudgy plastic separators left over from the pandemic...the food is nonetheless delicious. I would definitely come back for the breakfast ... which is reasonably priced at about 13$ and I would like to try other menu items. Last time I was there (pre pandemic) there were table cloths on the tables and the ambiance was much nicer than the bare tables now. With the high quality of food however this would once again be a class act place if they tend to the environment...fresh paint job...get rid of the hanging plastic shields and work a bit on ambiance with something as simple as cloth napkins and table cloths. It was a cute little place with a pretty unique menu. And I’ve heard a lot of good things so I wanted to try it. I hadn’t ever looked at the menu before and couldn’t make a choice right away. I ended up getting the Crown and Coke burger because ... it was a tossup between getting the brisket on the menu or a burger. And there is a piece of brisket on this burger so I get the best of both worlds. The burger was thick and juicy, and had a lot of flavour coming from the dried onion as well as the way they braise the meat in the crown royal and Coke definitely infuses it with a unique taste. The bun was a little bit greasy and seem to have soaked up a lot of the sauce, which I didn’t really like. I had a poutine on the side, and I couldn’t finish it because I thought that the gravy was pretty salty. I ended up getting a child size mac & cheese for my child and it was actually very decent portion. It was cheesy and delicious. Read more

Oakwood is such a cute little cafe! Their customer service makes a positive impression... so friendly, attentive and welcoming. I came in to try their chicken and waffles but found the dish really lacking the sweet factor. Every ingredient itself was cooked great (my over-easy eggs were perfect) but I found ... the sweet/savory combo not equal. The waffle could be much sweeter to compliment all the other ingredients. While this won't be my go-to for chicken and waffles, I am excited to come back and try different dishes on the menu! Read more

Cute little restaurant that had some yummy food. It was pretty busy when we went but got seated not too long after we arrived. Service was good and friendly.
