Original George’s Burgers & Subs - Winnipeg, Manitoba

We placed a to go order over the phone. They didn't answer the first time, the second time they answered and hung up immediately, and we got through the third time. They said 15 minutes and we got there 20 minutes later and it was ready. What they charged us didn't ... match the prices on the online menu/what they said on the phone, but we didn't calculate until we got home so not sure where the discrepancy was (they only gave a credit card receipt). The cheeseburger was OK - tasted overwhelmingly like mustard. Thankfully I'm ok with mustard. We had a small fries with chili on the side. The chili was good and the fries portion was rather large (maybe they charged us more because they gave us a large size? If so, it was a bit small for a large). The fries were also luke warm and didn't seem fresh (got home like 3 minutes after picking up). They also weren't seasoned (not sure if that's normal). Flavorful burgers, especially the fatboy. Can recommend the fries with chilli, it’s a massive portion and tastes really good!

Safe to say this will be my second favourite eatery to go to, will definitely come back again. The only setback to this place was the customer service, as the waitress struggled to hear me and the service was quite rushed but it’s a Saturday and it was quite busy, ... so I will cut some slack on that. The food itself was great. Although my girlfriend ordered pretty basic, compared to what I ordered she had no complaints at all, and neither did I. The serving was way bigger than I expected and I was blown away by how fast we received our order, I don’t think we waited longer than 10 minutes of being in the building. In conclusion this location is great, I have yet to go to the other locations but I would for sure say it’s next best to Nick’s Inn in Headingley (this is my opinion), and like I said I would definitely come back again. Got the gyro’s dinner (couldn’t even finish it cos the portion was big!) with caesar salad and my bf ordered the sub special with onion rings for our dinner date here and it was absolutely delicious!!! Terrible experience, used to love going here but they’ve definitely fallen off. Got a bacon burger, fat boy, fries and a side of gravy and it was borderline terrible. The fries felt and tasted like they had been in a fridge for days and then thrown in a microwave for 1 ... minute, both burgers were cold, dry, thin, hard and definitely not up to standards. When I called to complain, they didn’t even believe me?? Asked for photos of the food or for me to bring it back so they can see? Luckily I did take photos. Anyway, got a credit for half of my bill for the next time. Definitely won’t be coming back tho. Read more
