FEB 28/2020: Great food! I wasn't expecting it to be so good and decently priced. Ordered a lunch special (available everyday) for $14.95 which included pulled pork, beef brisket, homemade fries and coleslaw. Also added burnt ends for an extra $5 and a can of pop. My husband ordered off the ... menu: 1 meat meal which include choice of 1 meat, BBQ baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and corn bread. He chose the farmer sausage. The bill was $40 and change. Delicious poutines, with great meat options. The servings were really filling, and we liked the option to add extra mild or spicy sauce. We would definitely return! It's a casual and comfortable atmosphere in the restaurant.

This places used to be Awesome. The BBQ poutine was great. I think there are new owners and the food has gone downhill, taste was just not the same. Can't say I would go back any time soon.

Lovey's is one of the few places in Winnipeg that is dedicated to BBQ. We ordered their platter for 2-3 so we could sample a bit of everything. (Not quite everything, but a decent number of their items). We added burnt ends for $5. Top picks are the burnt ends, cornbread, and ... fries. Burnt ends had the most smokiness to it, which is my preference. Those are 5 star items. We even wanted to order the cornbread to go, if that's an example of how much we liked it. 4 stars would be the ribs (We had st louis style), brisket and coleslaw. We weren't a huge fan of the beans, but I think it might still be a 4 star item if you like that taste. I didn't think it was bad, just not my taste. The chicken fell to a 3 star though, as I wouldn't choose to order it here versus their other items. It was mediocre. Acceptable if you want chicken. Price for everything was $62.84 ish (We asked for a receipt but didn't get it so this is based on my friends memory who paid) which includes taxes. The best place for wood smoked BBQ in Manitoba. And, yes, we have tried the others. All of them. We go for the Burnt Ends Sandwich, the classic Pulled Pork, the ribs, the Terminator Burger, and the Brisket. The meat is not oversauced and is always tender and perfectly smoked, with a ... fantastic flavour. The fries and chips are both great. Our group's opinion on what could improve and would make this place a solid 5 involves improving their side's. Specifically, their potato salad and coleslaw; make it creamier. We consider them both a bit too dry, and tend to take away from the fantastic meat. Read more
