Almost didn’t eat here because of some of the reviews but super glad that we did, the service was wonderful, our server bailey was a sweet heart never had an empty cup. I’ve been to Muddy Waters several times over the years. It’s fine if you want to buy a drink and hang out on the patio, but the food has never been that great. In the winter, the interior of restaurant can be really drafty due to the large windowed wall ... on one side. The pull of this restaurant/pub is the outdoor patio that is accessible in the summer, though the popularity of this has vastly declined over the past few years with the introduction of the licensed drinking area in the centre of The Forks Market. *edit* before this visit I had given a very positive review. This visit was very lack luster. Server was fine and did her job with many recommendations. The food was lacking. We ordered the same items as last time. The chicken and ribs were both much drier this time. The ... fries were still good. The Caesar was fine. The coleslaw tasted great but after a few bites we going it too heavy on the sauce which made it hard to eat. So I would say between a 3-4 now but closer to a 3 due too price. I wouldn't return normally because the price point is high for the quality of the food we received this time. We did speak with the server about the issue. That we were very impressed last time but that it was meh this time. You can tell she really cares about her job. She tried to figure out what might have been different. However her answer was everything was the same, which leads me to think they just don't have a firm consistency which explains the differences in the ratings. This place teeters from a 4 to 5 star. First of all it is not fine dining. You can't expect that. The prices however seem to be at a premium. Most likely due to its location. We had an exceptionally knowledgable server who was professional and friendly. Service was 5 stars. The food was a range of 3-5, with only one item we tried being a 3 (the mashed potatoes). All the server recommended items were at minimum good to very good. I would recommend the fried chicken with fries. I am normally not a huge fan of matchstick fries, but their thin ones were very tasty. We received all dark meat (which I prefer) but the drum stick is always tiny... so its not that much chicken considering its price which was around $18 for the combo. (Also included coleslaw, but you can swap the sides if you like) We also tried the St Louis rib. We weren't a fan of the bourbon sauce, but you have two to choose from and the other one was perfectly ok. The key lime pie was very good, but there are many dessert options around. So if you're lazy, sure go ahead and get it. Its made in house and its good, but the french district is a bit of a walk away with a bigger selection... I really enjoyed my experience. There were some minor things, but due to its price, it has to be rated with a slightly higher bar. Thus a 4 star. If they dropped their prices by a few dollars then definitely it would hit a 5 if the service continues to be as good as it was. My friends had mentioned bad service in the past, but it is always dependent on the server you get. We happened on a great one. Our server did recommend the nachos. He was on point with all his recommendations. The only reason we didn't order it was we were a party of 2 and the nachos looked to be a huge amount. We had already ordered 2 main dishes. My and my girl friend went there here for an early dinner before skating around 5pm on Friday. We choose here because it seems better place to avoid crowds to enjoy since the food court in the forks is crazy busy all the time nowadays. We are completely ... right about this and had a great time. We each got beer and shared BBQ pork nachos and brownie sundae. The nachos was massive and the topping was exceptional especially their BBQ pork and the black bean. Their chocolate sundae was perfect to split by two of us. There were 2 brownies and 2 vanilla icecream :) Their food and service are good and everything priced reasonable. We like muddy waters. Waitresses always awesome to us. The food is very good. Very busy as it was spring break this week. Love the patio on summer too. Came back today after a few months.
