I’ve tried to contact the restaurant to make sure that the owners are aware of the state of the dining area— the complaint seems to have fallen on deaf ears as they do NOT care about customer well being but they care more about quick table turn around time. This review ... is based on the condition of the restaurant but also good to mention that the service is also incredibly lacking. Orders of food not showing up, the server took my glass along with a glass from another table, mixed them up when refilling and replaced the straws thinking that I would not notice. I have been a customer for many years but after my last dining experience I will NOT be returning. IT IS HAZARDOUS TO DINE AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant on a busy Friday with subpar service. It was hot, humid and muggy inside the restaurant. 1. The restaurant does not have proper ventilation for the hot pots, the steam from each individual pot creating condensation with no place to escape 2. Trapped condensation creates mold 3. Mold was found in every corner of the restaurant and was getting damp and wet from the constant condensation = spread of mold spores. This was not just in one area as the closer I looked, the more mold I discovered in plain sight. I cannot in good faith recommended anyone to dine here as it is dangerous to consume your food in an open area with mold. If you are to take any restaurant review into consideration before dining, please take this one! Do NOT eat here for your safety. Photos attached. [photos taken Feb 16, 2024] Read more
After 3 years of coming to this location, I don’t think my friends and I will ever return. Frequently on our visits we encounter slow service - food coming out delayed, waitress takes time coming back to the table to reorder, soup bowls not being refilled in a timely manner. ... There is typically only one person upfront and we often give them the benefit of the doubt, as the food is typically okay. Tonight was unprecedented. We had been there for less than a hour. Had ordered food once. We were checked on once. Our broth became very low and despite numerous attempts to get our servers attention we could not get her to come over. The bowl began to smoke and almost light fire. The whole restaurant was looking at us while we were asking the waitress again to come over and help us. She told us to “hold on and wait” while she proceeded to check out a large group of people while we continued to panic and stand up around the table. She eventually came over and put more water in the bowl, expecting we would want to continue eating from THAT BOWL, and at this restaurant. We had to fight with them for any compensation in our bill and our lost meal. We were supposed to be there for 2 hours of all you can eat. We didn’t even get half of that and the manager barely gave us any discount after the fact. We will never be back. And frankly, nobody should go here. Pics to follow. The last one is what she expected us to eat after the fire. Read more
I was ridiculously jealous of my friends’ post the other day as they went to our ultimate favourite hotpot place, so I thought I’d look for a similar restaurant where I am right now. Coincidentally, the place that we went to shares the same name as my favourite hotpot joint ever ... but I was a little bit disappointed with the lack of choices here. The broth was 8/10 (not included in the all-you-can-eat price🥲😱), sauce choices were plentiful- 7/10, meat selections and quality was 7/10, meat and seafood balls items were also plentiful - 8/10, seafood items were very sparse - 5/10 ( have to pay extra for shrimps🥲😱), wide array of fresh veggies though - 10/10, ample noodle choices but did not order any, service however was 9/10! Price was not cheap either. I left the restaurant full but not overly satisfied. Read more
I like to visit hot pots wherever I go. Asian Hot Pot was next in line, and it was a great spot. The soup bases were great. They are tasty unto themselves. I wouldn't claim that the spicy hot base (I had the spicy beef tail) was really spicy hot, but ... it did have a kick. Happily, the sauce section has a lot of options, so if you enjoy spicy hot, you can make your own spicy sauce. The other soup base we had (ginseng chicken) was flavourful and delicious - not at all spicy. In terms of the dipping ingredients, the options are really good. The meats are given in ample portions, shaved thin (including the chicken,) and taste great. The veggies came in a variety of portion sizes that lean towards large. The bean sprouts serving in particular was surprisingly large (mind you, this is not a bad thing). The chinese cabbage was also on the larger size. Overall, I was very happy with the quality, quantities, and variety. Service was great. The servers were attentive and checked in with us. They were prompt with removing empty serving trays. The food came out in good time. Everything worked. Read more
In my opinion, this is the best hop pot in the city! Reasonable pricing, good selection, quality food. Dining room could use some attention - hopefully they eventually check into that! Intimate atmosphere.
