I love the ambience of this beautifully-restored theatre. Since it opened, I've been here every year (outside the pandemic) for brunch on Mother's Day or Christmas. At the most recent brunch I noticed the usual host/manager was gone, and the new staff was blunt, awkward and a bit confused. I ... missed the usual host as she was always friendly and fun to talk to. I think she even knew me by name! Inside, the restaurant was very dark and a bit too cold to be comfortable. Definitely bring a sweater or something. We had to buy tickets via Ticketmaster, which was annoying (as their app never works) and expensive (about $70/person). I missed being able to just call for a reservation. The server seemed really inexperienced, as he brought coffee to the table next to ours and then zipped past our table until we yelled at him for coffee. Then later, three different servers stopped by with coffee so I don't think anyone knew which table they were supposed to be serving. The food is pretty good, not great, but mostly okay. Everything was quite cold, which raised some food safety concerns as some of these dishes should've been kept hot. The cook at the waffle station had made a huge pile of waffles, so the ones I got were hard as a rock. She didn't seem to understand that waffles should be cooked and served fresh (that's the whole point of having a waffle station!) as they don't keep well. The desserts were just a few flavourless cakes; nothing fancy, and a clogged-up chocolate fountain. I was a fan of this venue and their brunch, but cold food, inexperienced staff and mediocre desserts didn't really justify the $70 price tag, and I might have to think twice about going next year.
