Sally was an extra-ordinary bartender / server ! The food was delicious! An amazing explosion of textures and flavours :) 10/10 will visit when im in winnipeg again !

Cafe Carlo is a quaint café on Lilac Street that was bustling with activity when we arrived. While our seating for two was snug against a partition wall, the staff accommodated us with a last-minute reservation with a phone call. We had the Fantasy and the steak special. Calamari was okay. ... The spring roll, with its deep curry undertones, wasn't the greatest, but the Caesar salad appetizer was fresh. The fette chile was very spicy, though the server informed us prior to ordering after I asked how spicy. For dessert, the creme brulée seemed slightly grainy due to possible undissolved sugar but I'd be willing to revisit. The steak was cooked to liking and the potatoes were styled french onion. A neat take on a potato. All entrees seemed to start in the high $20 range and a side caesar was $12. The all-in-one meal was $52. With our bill coming in over $200 for two of us, it was not cheap. Overall, Cafe Carlo offers a cozy retreat with attentive service and a menu worth exploring, making it a delightful destination for a satisfying meal. Looking for a cute date night? Give it a go! Several options in Winnipeg at similar price points. There just wasn’t enough going for cafe carlo for us to recommend it. Atmosphere: Neat, warm, and cozy. If you are coming for cocktails the Corpse reviver and the espresso martini were delicious. Food: Perhaps we got unlucky, but 3 of the 4 dishes we ordered ... really missed the mark. Hooray for fish tacos! Portions sizes were satisfying, but the food was unbalanced and overly salty. The Spag Boo was pad thai noodles in a Italian red sauce - very scary. I highly don’t recommend. Great dinner spot. Menu items are delicious and well presented, generous portions. Servers are attentive and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant for small intimate dinners, as well as medium groups of Family/Friends. Been here few times. Great staff. Great drinks. Good food. Service is always good. Food is good. Nothing to blow you away but worth the visit. Birthday cake dessert is a must.
