Very recommended. Amazing food and super friendly staff. Shiro sauce is great.
It's got that handmade from scratch speed of service, but I just love the food here! It's so flavourful and the prices are great. There are lots of delicious vegetarian options and the platter is just fantastic. The location isn't wheelchair-accessible unfortunately, it's on the second floor up a set of ... stairs but if you can get up there it's definitely worth trying. It's fantastic Ethiopian and Eritrean food (instead of using a fork and knife you eat using your hands picking up food with a special kind of bread called injira - which is kind of like a crepe) and all the servers I've had their over the years have been friendly and helpful. The service is fast and friendly. People talk about how it used to be slow and terrible but this amazing restaurant has done a 180° turnaround! The owner was so friendly and our food came so fast we were shocked. The portions are generous and everything tasted amazing and fresh. ... This is the best Ethiopian/Eritrean food I’ve ever had! We visited the restaurant on a Saturday night as a party of 4. We were aware of the long waits for the food. However, our 1.5-2 hour wait was not worth it. They were out of the original appetizer we wanted to order, so we were fine with switching it ... to the other option (which turned out to be the best part of the meal.) The wait was on, and when we got our plates, 3 of the 4 dishes were the wrong orders. I approached the server - who by the way was the ONLY one on the floor - and told her about the situation. She picked up the dishes, and gave it to the other table instead. Another long wait for the correct dishes, and it was cold by the time we got it. It seems like a very humble restaurant, but the flavours are lacking, which do not make up for the wait times. I also understand how difficult it is to be the only server, but it is prime weekend hours and it only hindered from the full experience. Read more
The food and the service was fantastic! The person helping us was really friendly and welcoming, despite it being pretty busy. The restaurant had a real local and family feel to it. It seemed like the staff knew a lot of people who came in personally and had conversations with ... customers. The lighting and decor were also really lovely. Now, to the food! We would definitely eat here again! We had never had Ethiopian food before but were referred from a friend and it was well worth it. We got the "Taste of Ethiopia" dish, which was really tasty, but we enviously eyed those around us who got the vegetable platter -- that's what we will get next time, it looked so good! We had Baklava for dessert, which was also yummy, though I don't think made in house. I also had a glass each of the house red and house white and both were good wines. 10/10 would go again. Read more
