The Wafflers - White Rock, British Columbia

Yummy waffles! Light and tasty, great for the Asian palette. It was a chill cafe and we played connect 4 while enjoying our waffle. Owners are really nice. Would come again!

Two visits, the second being a follow-up to the highly enjoyable first evening by the water. First the good: These waffles are better quality and better dressed (ice cream, syrups, sauces, fruit, etc.) than any I've had world wide, including Benelux. Belgium, Netherlands, nor Luxembourg have nothing on these guys, nor ... do the street food vendors in Bangkok, and that's saying a lot! They proudly use whole eggs which make a huge difference, but they have an egg white only version which they readily admit isn't the same. Coffee is excellent as well, being large, rich, served properly hot and to order along with food upon request so that it doesn’t cool off. Chef’s kiss here, for sure. So why would I give only three stars for such a delicious little hidden gem getaway with great views of the water, so near the walking pier? Simply, it was the cranky and abusive old man (owner?) running the place from whom I would no longer entrust to make my food after only our second visit. After agreeing to serve and seat us curbside ten minutes before their 8 p.m. closing time, their credit card machine seemed to offer so many cryptic options for completing payment that even HE couldn’t figure it out. He finally reset it to the point that I (clearly!) stated that I would pay cash for the tip and would just pay the main bill by card. He immediately began slamming dishes around and barely pretending to mutter about how outrageous it was that at 10 minutes before close we would leave no tip. It began to extend, so I had to interject that we had clearly stated that we would pay a tip in cash and that this was something no employee should express to their customer. I was sure to remain at the counter, sensing lingering resentment after no apology whatsoever, to observe his preparation of my wife’s food. Yes, we tipped generously and thanked him for serving us at that late hour. In fairness, the lady who had served us the day before was kind, helpful, efficient. and gracious. The prices are somewhat inflated, so it’s a shame that the service suffered so abruptly the next day. Take a chance, maybe? Read more

Vegetarian Options, Phenomenal Taste, Mixed Feelings on Customer Service I recently visited The Wafflers - Belgian Waffle Bar with my family, and we were delighted to find a variety of vegetarian options, especially in the White Rock area. The taste of the waffles was phenomenal, and overall, everything we tried was ... excellent. However, I do have a concern about the demeanor of the staff. While the food was fantastic, I couldn't help but notice that the staff seemed unwelcoming. I'm not sure why, but it felt like they were not as friendly or welcoming towards everyone, particularly towards me. Customer service should be consistent for all patrons, regardless of skin tone or any other factor. It's disappointing to feel this way, and I hope it's something the management addresses. Despite this issue, the food quality remains top-notch, and I would recommend The Wafflers for its delicious waffles and vegetarian options. Read more

We’re foodies so we’ve tried lots of waffle and dessert places before: The waffles: not too bad we had the leige ones, they could be crispier. We ordered the duchess which had a good amount of strawberries. The wait: It took 30 minutes for one waffle order….We went at 12:30 so maybe ... that’s why it was more busy? But they should have more staff or a more efficient system. Established waffle places like nero does it well and has better waffles. The price: it was $14.70 but the cashier was pushing for tips and I didn’t check but it was added so total for waffles were 16:17. From other reviews it seems like the issues were mainly the wait time, unapologetic staff and push on tips. We did experience all of this but from their side it was older workers and they maybe could be understaffed? We might be willing to give it another try if they improve on our suggestions! But for now we opt for other dessert places in white rock! Read more

Wow, just wow! These waffles are next-level amazing, even better than the ones I had in Montreal, believe it or not! I wish I could give them 6 stars out of 5, that’s how good they are! The staff are super cool and friendly, and the view? Gorgeous! Totally rocked ... my taste buds! The young blonde lady made a great recommendation. Folks! Gotta try thisnplace! Read more
