Ka-Ze Sushi & Beyond - Whistler, British Columbia

We like coming here for an early and quick dinner after skiing before heading back to Vancouver. They open at 5 pm; if you come early, you might be able to walk in. I like they are more homey - nothing fancy - but still traditional style in terms of their interior. We ... have been here multiple times. We have tried a few of their appetizers and sushi rolls. Food has been consistently high standards. The eggplant turned out to be unexpectedly food while the dumplings were fairly standard. Sushi rolls were all quite nice. They do not have a lot of desserts to choose from. For some reason, green tea ice cream was out for a couple of times. We had tried mango ice cream, which was quite refreshing; and green tea cheesecake, which was a pleasant surprise. I guess we will need to keep coming back for green tea ice cream. We loved 2 years in Roppongi, Tokyo. So our Sushi expectations are usually high. The sushi at Ka-Ze was fresh and the variety enough to satisfy any sushi fan. I suggest you try the chutoro and kampachi sashimi. The tuna tataki we ordered as appetizer didn’t disappoint as well as ... their 1/2 and 1/2 sashimi. We sat by the bar and it was such an experience to see the chefs do their magic with such speed. Friendly staff, yummy food, decently priced. Feel like stepping into Japan. I recommend it and would go back.

Very crowded during dinner time (wait time is easily 45mins if not more). Fish was fresh. The waitresses were nice. But interestingly, they didn't offer ginger and wasabi by default (you need to ask for it). It's a nice alternative cuisine option from the All American grill restaurant right next ... door. this is our new favorite dinner spot in the village! we walked in around 6 and they were able to seat us at the sushi bar. we ordered green tea, and they made sure our cups were never empty the entire time we dined with them. we ordered the rainbow ... roll, spicy tuna roll, caterpillar roll, and tropical roll. spicy tuna and rainbow were our favorites but they were all incredible. delicious, fresh, and such a great price. service was impeccable, and this was by far the coziest spot we’ve been to here, and will absolutely be back.
