Dairy Queen (Treat) - Waterloo, Ontario

Very fun and old school. Looks very aesthetic and great service.

This location doesn't take cash. I was there one day and two young boys were trying to buy ice cream - all they had was a $20 dollar bill. They were told they could accept the money but WOULDN'T be able to give them any change. These poor boys weren't ... able to speak up for themselves and they didn't know what to do. Luckily I bought their ice cream but I think this is so wrong to take advantage of young people who wouldn't know the difference. This location also doesn't participate in the Rewards program that DQ offers. When I complained to corporate about these two concerns, I then had a phonecall from the store owner!! Never once did I give permission for him to contact me, but he took it upon himself to. It was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. I will never go to this location ever again because of it and I deter as many people as I possibly can from going here ever again. I wish 0 stars was an option. I don't feel valued as a customer here, this particular owner doesn't want to accept cash and was told to put it on a gift card instead, when we said something to Dairy Queen about it he then called my wife on Thanksgiving at dinner time to basically state that ... he can do what he wants with no apologies. You can't beat a Blizzard on a hot day! I don't know what it is, but this is by far the best go-to item on their menu. I love the fact that they have a "mini" size. I have 4 stars for the atmosphere because you are sitting in their ... parking lot but they now added music which is an improvement. This is a great chain to have a tradition to have an ice cream with your kids. Read more

EDIT: Original review below. When this incident happened the owner of this location was extremely prompt in his response and sympathetic, offering a credit of 4 blizzards and an apology. I appreciated the quick response. Very good customer service to fix the mistake. Great to see! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ordered four blizzards ... from here all the same kind. Received four disgusting blizzards instead, all different kinds, almost like whatever they felt like they just threw in the cup. Very disappointed. Read more
