Symposium Cafe Restaurant & Lounge - Waterloo, Ontario

This used to be a great place to have a nice coffee, app or dessert. I have no idea what has happened but this location has gone drastically down hill. I have featured a picture of the spinach dip which came out with a large synthetic cheese slice on top ... of it and consisted of slimy spinach and soupy liquid. The cake display that used to be the best part of the experience was basically empty. seated next to the kitchen and cash area all that could be herd from serving staff was questions about where things were located and how to do their job. a couple seated next to us waited for 15 minutes to be greeted by their server. The server was very polite and kind but seemed to have too many tables to be able to keep track of. The management staff needs to train more effectively. very disappointing :( Read more

Food was good but service is way too slow. We reserved a large table two weeks in advance and when we came it took about 15 min to be seated and to set up the table. Then it took 2 hours for us to GET our food. We only had ... one server for a table of 18 and always had to reach out to get their attention if we wanted drinks or anything else. Dissapointed with the price as well for being relatively expensive for what you get but I will say that it was tasty. Read more

Went for drinks and dessert. Prices are okay for what you get, the quantity could be a bit bigger for desserts. Tried the Apple crumble and chai mocha latte. Both were nice, not too sweet, but again on the smaller size given the price. Very cozy and comfortable area. Server and bartender were very welcoming and explained menu well. Ambience of restaurant was peaceful and calming. I ordered the 8oz beef burger with blue cheese, guacamole, sauteed mushrooms and it was great! Would order again next time with different toppings to try them all ... out. The atmosphere of this place is very nice, calm and dimly lit. The customer service has been excellent both times I've been here and their selection of cakes is mouth watering. The food looks amazing, however the actual quality of the food is hit or miss. I will probably come ... back - not because of the food but because their staff makes your eating experience great.
