Sonny’s Drive-In - Waterloo, Ontario

Great diner food! Went in today for the first time after passing by this place daily for years. It is super clean and there wasn’t much of a wait. The staff, an older gentleman and a young lady, were both very friendly, sweet and helpful. We had one order of chicken ... fingers, fries and onion rings. The portions were generous even for two hungry people. The chicken fingers are a bit on the thinner side and mostly meat with a thin and crunchy coating. The fries were your perfect chip shop comfort food. The onion rings were amazing pretty much the best onion rings I have had in this area! Light, crunchy exterior and a good sized onion ring inside. Solid burgers and excellent fries. I'd meant to give Sonny's a try for years, now I'm disappointed I waited so long. The food is good, I fully intend to consume more of it.

Sonny's is great, the service is awesome the food is great and it's one of the great long term Waterloo establishments. We were there for Good Friday to pick up some delicious fish and chips, with about 5 dozen other people, the long wait is always worth it. Pros: Fish n chips tasted good so if you do go, I recommend trying it. They have a Beyond Meat burger (image attached) Cons: The lady at the front was extremely rude to us. The burgers she grilled were charred on the outside and not fully cooked on the inside. We ... were the only people there and for some reason we were rushed through with the order. I ordered 1pc fish and chips. My first impression from the paper bag smell was burned oil. But indeed the fish was well cooked and delicious with the tar tar sauce. It was a thick 1inch piece. The fries was homemade and although some pieces seemed dark/burned, but all were ... well coocked. It didn't had too much oil or too salty. Overall was a good experience for the price. Read more
