Med Grill - Victoria, British Columbia

I dined at Med Grill the first time this weekend and it was a very lovely dining experience. The location is has a unique design to it that sets it apart from other fine dining. Felt rustic and cozy while not cheapening the experience. Staff and service was great, waitress ... was attentive and friendly. The food was the highlight. I got ordered from the Tuscan table and was not disappointed. The serving sizes were perfect to enjoy, while not feeling bloated. The food itself was quite good, chicken was moist and seasoned well, vegetables cooked how I liked them, and the mashed potatoes were creamy. I thought the prices were fair for what you get at this calibre and would definitely would recommend to anyone who wants to dine somewhere for a special occasion. Read more

Great service and food. Had the 3 course meal special and would recommend. I had the the tomato basil soup followed by the blackened chicken and finishing with the lemon curd yogurt desert. It was fantastic! My wife had the ahi tuna with the prawn scallop linguini and it also ... was good. Our server was attentive despite the place being busy. Food 1/5. Seems promising at first. Cold beer and good crab cakes but mostly a let down from there. Disappointing for a such an expensive restaurant. Calamari was skinny and not that juicy, but still tasty. 3/5 Crab cakes were good sauce was good, no complaints. 4/5 $34 Salmon was so dry I ... only ate half, and it was pretty small already. It’s like a $7 piece from save-ons. I'll eat the rest at home with some superstore tzatziki. Comes with sliced boiled carrots still half raw, lol, salty overfried potato wedges you’d get on the ferry, and no sauce. Asparagus so skinny that it could not possibly be juicy or crunchy. They also did not snap off the woody ends. 4 out of 6 of our meals had this bad asparagus's. Honestly if you cooked it like this at home you would not be happy. If you call this seasonal vegetables then owner does not know how to select or serve good ingredients. 0.5/5 The only reason I did not send it back was because we were celebrating a very special occasion and we were all pretty happy, I did not want to spoil the memory. $40 Steak tasted fine, flamed grilled and pink but not extremely tender either. Same bad asparagus on everyone’s meal. But for an expensive steak you could make it better at home for probably $15 2/5 $28 Half rack of ribs was good, fall off the bone. Had sauce and buttery mash potatoes. Same asparagus 4/5 My brothers chicken seemed dry. Service was mid. Seemed like mostly teenagers. Etiquette was polite but perhaps not had high end as they’d like to make you believe. They did not take away dirty plates at logical times, and for an expensive and nice restaurant you’d think they’d box your leftovers for you in the back instead of giving you the box to do it yourself. I’m being picky but this is an expensive restaurant and our group of 6 came for a nice celebrating and spent a lot of money so we expect better. Read more

This restaurant is a gem. The food is superb. Lots of gluten free options. I had a crepe with seafood, veggies bunded in delicious creamy sauce. Pear salad with goat cheese is Highly recommended.

A cozy and quiet place for lunch. Our server was very polite, sweet and attentive. The food was much better than all the other western style/ Italian / seafood restaurants that we visited in downtown Victoria. The dishes we ordered had good flavour and texture, the salad ... had a bit too much dressing for our liking but that can easily be adjusted at our next visit. Prices were very similar to restaurants in the downtown area but the quality and quantity was vastly better. We would dine at Med Grill again if we visit the island in the future. Read more
