What a wonderful experience having dinner here. Sitting outside, the view we had was amazing, sun shining on the water, boats scurrying about the harbour. The food……AMAZING!!! If you like steak, the steak au poivre is your choice. Melt in your mouth good. The 5 layer chocolate cake with Chantilly ... cream and mandarin coulis is to die for. Our server Calvin was fantastic. He was very personable, attentive and very intuitive in figuring out what we needed. We will be back and will be recommending The Veranda to our family and friends. Read more

GORGEOUS dining location within the Fairmont Empress Hotel. We stopped in for an anniversary lunch while on an Alaskan cruise. This place did not disappoint. The seafood tower was delicious. We stayed in the Empress Hotel, so opted to have drinks on the patio here one night, and lunch on the patio another day. Drinks and food was fabulous, service for lunch was a little slow, despite not being very full at the time. It seemed as if our server ... was actually waiting on tables in a different section, as we did wait quite a while in between ordering food, and courses. However, our server was very friendly. Prices are a little steep, and while we enjoyed the food, it was likely a one off for us. Read more

My friend and I spent a wonderful night here. The service was wonderful, and the dishes we had were amazingly delicious. I love the garnish on my chowder and short rib. Their dessert really impressed me, the taste was absolutely innovative with salty feta cream cheese, fluffy sponge cake and ... sweet and sour shredded green apple. The only thing I would complain about was the seat us in a really tiny narrow table near the kitchen door, which is really noisy. And obviously there was nobody seating at those other nice tables around us during our whole dinner time about 2 hours. Read more

Iconic Victoria happy hour. We ended up sitting outside on the patio with views out towards the harbor. Pricey, but well worth the experience. We have done the tea inside the Empress prior, but this time we stopped by for happy hour. The service was exceptional, our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu ... and explained in detail where our charcuterie came from. It was a very hot day, and sitting outside was getting a little hot. The staff brought over an extra sun umbrella so we could enjoy the shade. I would recommend reservations, we were very lucky to get a table on the spot. Read more
