Restaurant Matisse - Victoria, British Columbia

I had the smoked duck appetizer, rabbit, and truffles for dessert, and it was all fantastic. The staff here are very observant and have a good sense of humour. This restaurant is very small and quiet with a very tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.

The best service I've ever received! Irreproachable! As well as a food menu selection. We tried 3 course dinner with wine pairing. Such a delicious experience! Strongly recommend this little French place! Definitely going to come again during our next visit to Victoria. Thanks.

I don't know what we ordered, but both of our meals were AMAZING! We often ask the waiter to recommend the best two dishes for us & they nailed it this time! But from the look of the other meals around us - you can't go wrong! ... One of the best restaurants we've been to & we've been to a lot. This is a dressy place - so don't go too casual. There are a few other good ones in town like II Terrazzo Ristorante & Re-Bar. Make sure you get the carmelized sugar decorated dessert. Read more

I took my husband here for his 36th birthday, and we were so pleased we picked this place. I looked for the top-rated restaurant in Victoria to treat him to, and Trip-Advisor ratings were definitely accurate (it's #1). At first, he thought he wouldn't like French food, but boy were ... we both wrong! It was delicious!! I had the rockfish (SO good!), and their specialty gin was even better than Hendricks. The most inventive French menu we've experienced, delivered with consistently impeccable service. My husband and I treat ourselves to Matisse every few months, and it's become the must-go-to place whenever my sister visits Victoria. (She doesn't come here to see me; it's all about Matisse.) A highlight of this restaurant is ... the personal attention of the maitre d', who visits each table to walk guests through the menu, which changes regularly, and who makes amazing recommendations for wine and drink pairings.
