A good restaurant with a good heart. We can on Victoria day and you could tell the restaurant was short on staff. The place was hopping for a early holiday morning and the staff was doing their best but I found we were served later than some of our neighbors at ... other tables. Our basic orders took longer than usual and we didn't see our server very often. Food was okay. My partner had a traditional egg breakfast and I had a skillet with hashbrowns. A lot of it was overcooked. I think I've had a better skillet. I'll try something simple next time and see if that improves the time and service. 😊 There were a lot of out of town visitors that day; that was a nice touch to be around so many diverse and interesting guests in our city! It's very rare to find a good breakfast place in Victoria without a line stretching out the front door on a weekend, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated the moment we walked in. Nice down home/diner style restaurant. Been operating since 1880, so that says something about its staying power. Food is really tasty and quite good, prices are very reasonable and staff are super friendly.

Great location and the food can be excellent but unfortunately at other times it is less than ordinary. The cost seems to have gone up making it less appealing.

Friendly staff, and a nicely decorated and bright interior. The inside is a little cramped, but with consistently good food you have to expect a good crowd.
