James Bay Tea Room and Restaurant - Victoria, British Columbia

We had the Freshest eggs ever here. They are very proud of the locally provided fare. It's also nice to start the day with linen napkins. The coffee was excellent. This will be a regular stop for us whenever we are in Victoria.

This is the best price for what you get and really nice food and tea. People that work here are wonderful!

Lovely spot with character, fantastic tea and comforting food. Their earl grey is excellent. They also have gluten free bread and English muffins, which was a nice surprise. I highly recommend this as an authentic alternative to the downtown tourist traps.

personally, we did not get the service one would expect nor was the food/cakes especially fresh. after failing to mention some items unavailable on the light tea menu, the food came very late...i mean we drank our pots of tea way in advance of receiving anything! and we ... had to get the servers attention to the fact. the replacement was, what seemed like 1-2 day old cinnamon buns and everything else appeared/tasted like it was store bought. having been treated to the empress i would highly recommend paying "twice the price" for the service, standard of cakes & sandwiches and ambiance. This is a great little place. We try to make it to James Bay Tearoom every time we are in Victoria. It is a more affordable alternative to the other more upscale tearooms. The atmosphere is quaint. Service is great and the staff are very family friendly. Tea was good ... and we had a fantastic time even with three kids. Read more
