The bottom line: The Keg was an enjoyable, reasonably priced meal in a tourist area, with fantastic service and interesting views. There's certainly a buzz of energy in this place. The service was attentive, and even on a Saturday night without reservations, we could squeeze in a table for two. The ... calamari was lightly fried with just enough batter and a cream and tangy sauce. The steaks weren't the best we've had, but they were alright, and a lot of personal preference is involved. The "atomic horseradish" was fantastic if you're into that. The "Billy Miners Pie" was an ice cream pie slice with a cookie crust, which was surprisingly not too sweet or overwhelming. My daughter took me out to celebrate my birthday. We went to our usual place - The Keg for dinner on Mar 6. It is completely an unpleasant experience compared to our previous lovely and warming experiences. The appetizers - Caesar brussel sprout is good. Crispy cauliflower is NOT crispy ... at all. It sits in a pool of oil. Our dinner - prime rib 18oz.is colder than usual. The crispy onion is very soggy, and the kitchen manager came and explained because they changed the oil. So… !! when they change the oil, the customers deserve to have oily and soggy food. Isn’t there a quality control for their food? The server is simply very slow, and it is not busy at all. It takes her a while to come around and clean our table. We were having our dinner with the empty appt plates on the table. All in all, the experience was terrible. Read more

The meal was amazing. The service good, not fantastic. It was all great until the special coffees and the Billie Miner pie. There are no nuts on the out side of the pie, my favorite part. The B52 coffees were the saddest ones we have ever had, I ... had only a couple sips. All together is was a wonder night being with my husband. Read more

Disappointing Experience at a Usually Reliable restaurant chain. I visited The Keg on Fort Street in Victoria BC with my partner on the evening of January 6th, hoping to enjoy the quality meals and service that I've come to expect from this restaurant chain. Unfortunately, our experience this time was far ... from satisfactory, a stark contrast to my previous enjoyable visits at other locations. I ordered a 12 oz top sirloin with mashed potatoes, anticipating a delightful meal. To my dismay, the steak was served cold, which was quite unexpected and disappointing. The mashed potatoes, while extremely hot, were presented in a haphazard manner (picture attached), detracting from the overall dining experience. My partner's choice of ribs was similarly underwhelming, served colder than what one would reasonably expect. The excessive fat content on the ribs was also off-putting, overshadowing their usually excellent flavor. Adding to our dissatisfaction, the cornbread, which is typically a warm and comforting side, was regrettably stone cold. In fairness I must comment on Comet’s great service, he was a very good waiter. And the atmosphere was decent. In an attempt to address these issues privately and constructively, I reached out to The Keg's management through email twice in the weeks following our visit, but I have yet to receive any response from management, only guest relations ensuring management will be in contact soon.This lack of communication only adds to my disappointment with The Keg, as I had hoped for a more proactive approach in resolving customer grievances. Overall, this visit was a letdown, especially considering the high standards I've experienced in the past at The Keg. I hope this feedback is taken constructively and that future diners do not face similar issues. Read more
