Great North American Grill – Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Vaughan - Vaughan, Ontario

The room was clean and the service was courteous and helpful. If you can’t afford to stay in Toronto (and who can?!?) then this is the best location. We were not here for Canada’s Wonderland, which is also a draw, but it’s a half-block walk to a first-class rail station, ... so for $13.50 you can take TTC downtown and ride streetcars all day long, and avoid traffic and parking hassles. Overall good experience. Have been here a few times and had a good time. Breakfast staff are amazing and attentive. Hotel is close to lots of great places including Canada Wonderland and Vaughn Mills Mall which is huge and has Lego Land right in there. The rooms need upgrading. The ... bedsheets kept sliding off 😂😂😂. Housing is great. Stayed 3 nights and requested house keeping and he did an amazing job in our room. Gym is okay. When we went AC was not working in the gym so it was hot as hell🥵. Sweated a lot I tell you 😂😂😂 probably lost some pounds which was great for me 🙄. On third day they turned on the portable AC unit which helped. Gym could use upgraded equipment . Had a working Paleton bike. Pool could be cleaned more often. DO NOT STAY HERE. EVERYTHING IS OLD AND UNCARED FOR. Check-in process was fine. Booked online so there was not much to it. However, the minute I got into the elevator, everything went downhill from there. Both elevators make noise so you don't know if the door will actually open. Then when I ... got onto my floor, it smelled like a dirty diaper. I still can't get the smell out of my nose. The keys for the doors are bad...took a few tries to get in. The rooms are old fashioned, given that it is an old hotel. The TV is tiny, maybe a 37". Didn't even think they made them this small. There is very limited lighting in the room. No ceiling lighting apart from the entryway, and only 3 lamps in a 2 Queen Bed room. Beds were not made well. Only 3 pillows, instead of 4, per bed. One of the duvets had a rip in it. My kids wanted to make use of the slide in the pool area, which I inquired about during check-in and was told that it would be open in 30min. When we went to go use it later in the evening, the slide was Out-of-Service (apparently it's been like that for months now so the Front Desk lied about it) and the Hot Tub was also Out-of-Service (not that we would use it, but just as a point of reference). The pool water looked murky and untreated. Safe to say, we did not make use of the pool. On-site laundry is $3/load whereas other hotels usually charge $1.50. The reception seating is ripped up and old. They also did not have a working Espresso Machine. That one really bothered me. Even a Ninja machine is $150...can't they just get a temporary one if they can't get a professional one. The final nail on the coffin is the Housekeeping Staff. Check-out was 12 noon. At 10:45am, there was a knock on the door from them...they apologized, and I let it slide. Then again 10 minutes later, and they even tried to use a card to come in without announcing themselves. I opened the door and the female Housekeeper said she was checking if the rooms checked out. (She should be checking with Front Desk before bothering guests!) Then she proceeded to tell me that check-out is 11:30am...this didn't make sense so I called the Front Desk just to make sure. They confirmed it was 12 noon and that they would tell the HK Supervisor about the complaint. Five minutes later, another housekeeper knocked on the door to check if I had checked out!!! Unbelievable!!! For those hoping for a Hilton experience, this is not it. For those that have a budget of around $150...I'd suggest you pay $20 more and stay at a better hotel. Loved our stay at the Vaughn location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Booked two rooms. The double queen was larger than we expected and the king whirlpool suite was beautiful. The buffet breakfast was delicious and had options for everyone. It was quite busy but a very quick wait. ... The pool and hot tub amenities were clean and well stocked with towels. Also located in an area that was easily accessible and there was so much to do within very close proximity. Could even transit if you're not a driver as it is directly across from Vaughn metropolitan center station. Will definitely stay here again Read more

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The rooms are very clean, the food is amazing and the staff really friendly and helpful. Especially the barmaid/waitress Natalia. She was so friendly, incredibly hardworking and funny. 4/ 5 when she was off duty and 5/ 5 when she was on. A ... real jewel. The hotel is 30 to 40 minutes drive from downtown Toronto which is a little far if you make that journey often especially with traffic jam.
