Sushi TonTon - Vancouver, British Columbia

We had some lunch there before heading to the airport and didn’t expect anything special, but it turned out to be one of the best lunches during our stay in Vancouver! We have ordered the Unagi Hot Stone Bowl and big sushi, I think it was called Big Boss Sushi or ... something, and the portions were very generous and the food was delicious!!😍🤤 I also love the idea of having a mouthwash in the washroom for the guests. I have eaten here several times and the food and the service have always been great. I came tonight with my toddler, and what could have been a stressful experience (restaurants often are!) was made so smooth. First of all, the staff were very friendly and interactive with my son which he ... absolutely loved. He also dumped water on himself and the floor, and it got cleaned up so fast without anyone making a fuss. The food was delicious, as it always is - and the service was quick. But I wanted to shout out the woman who was masked and wearing the New York shirt (manager/owner?). She was so attentive, without being overbearing. She brought me extra napkins without me asking, when she noticed that we’d run out. She then came back with a knife - again without me asking - so that I could cut the piping-hot chicken karaage that I’d been trying to rip apart with my hands, for the toddler. I know it sounds so simple, but think about how often you have to ask for the extra things you need and then wait for them to show up. It truly made my experience there that much easier and I just really appreciate the care and attention. I was a fan of this place before, but it is at the top of my list now! Read more

The food here is okay. The sushi rolls were decent, but they were cut so thinly that the filling fell out before eating it. Chicken kaarage had a fish and chip batter to it. Didn't love it and was extremely heavy and oily. It's pretty pricy for what you get.

I very randomly discovered this place and I’m really happy I did. Totally worth every one of the five stars I gave - the food was very delicious, the staff extremely polite and the atmosphere overall inviting and friendly. I need to go again and try more dishes!

Very well plated dishes here. The kitchen staff definitely have an artistic eye when it comes to presenting food as you can see in the pictures (scallop tataki roll, calamari, crunch roll). The taste is also very delicious and the ingredients and textures seem to be high quality. The restaurant ... interior itself is quite nice, feels spacious and comfortable. Each table has its own dividers for privacy and there are hooks on the dividers for jackets etc. The wait staff were also very lovely, super friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone passing by the Cambie Village area! Read more
