Longstanding establishment in the neighborhood specializing in BIG and BOLD portions of seafood, Pink Peppercorn did not disappoint. We were amazed by the generous portions, even with their appetizers. The papaya prawn salad was truly a surprise, with prawns that were juicy and bouncy, and a dressing on the sweeter ... side packed with flavors. When it comes to the entrees, you can't miss the salmon Wellington. The pastry was beautifully baked, with an outside shell glazed with a luxurious glow that tempts your senses. The sauce it came with really complemented the salmon, mushrooms, and shrimp inside. The New York steak with peppercorn sauce was also very well done. All entrees came with about half a broccoli, a full serving of carrots, and a bowl of mashed potatoes the size of a noodle soup bowl. I saw many senior patrons here and wondered how it was even possible for them to finish everything without spiking their blood sugar. The ambiance is cozy and warm, and while the service was okay, the lady forgot about our water a couple of times. However, she looked ultra busy with those heavy plates, so I totally understand. Overall, the experience was really good. However, the sides were a bit plain, so don’t be shy with the sauce if you plan to get the salmon Wellington. I would definitely recommend and come again. Second time here and as pleasant as the first. Service is exceptional as always. Atmosphere is great. Nature of the setting is on the more cuddly side. Food is terrific! Portion is definitely more than enough. For appetizers we had crab meat salad and seared large scallop which were the daily specials. Crab meat ... salad was super refreshing, very well flavored. Scallops were seared just right, not over done. We ordered the smoked black cod and Salmon Wellington for entrees. Black cod was seared and marinated so well, the sauce was just right for the mashed potatoes. Salmon Wellington was just delicious. Crispy, flavorful and stuffed with delicious fillings. It is a very cozy restaurant. Tables are quite tight and close to each other. We were delightful surprise to taste the sour dough bread with their balsamic lobster oil. The clam chowder has the right consistency - not overly thick nor runny. It’s a good chowder but not enough ... clam flavour. The salmon Wellington is a must order - pastry is crispy, salmon and shrimps are nicely done and still juicy - not over cooked. We also ordered the daily special - sablefish in lemon butter sauce. I found the sablefish a bit too fishy. Both dishes come with generous amount of veggies and mashed potatoes. They are not shy in the use of cream and butter as you can really tell by the silkiness and smoothness of the mashed potatoes. Generous portion. The cream brûlée has a very good texture and smoothness. It is a very heavy meal however it’s a delightful experience to enjoy it once in awhile. Willing to come back next time. Very well prepared food. Amazing flavor in every bite. Friendly and knowledgeable server. I wanted to try a new place and just randomly picked it off of the map. My wife wanted Cedar Plank Salmon for her birthday, and that was on the menu, so we went. I had the Smoked ... Alaskan Black Cod, WOW! Our appetizers were almost a meal themselves. She had the Crab/ salmon cake, and I had the Seafood Platter for 1. We ended up taking half of our dinners home. It was just as good the next night, baked in the oven.
