A good place for small parties, small menu, and small plates (ie, nice and pricey). Reservations recommended especially if you’re planning to visit on the weekend. Love their concept of a daily cocktail special + all natural wine bar. The food we ordered was all cooked to good quality and ... creativity. The nuoc mam sun chokes stood out! Chefs knew what they were doing with that fish sauce. Service was good. On a Saturday night, we didn’t feel rushed at all like some of the reviews have mentioned. Not saying it didn’t happen to other patrons, just that G&S likely responded to this feedback which reflects well on them. As I mentioned, this is one of those places where everything is fashionably tiny and pricey. Would return and recommend. Just know what you’re in for! Yum! I’ve only had good experiences here. The chewy fried Sunchokes are to die for. The Sichuan duck leg is one of the best dishes I’ve had in months. I love the radicchio that it comes with. The pickles on this plate were on another level. As a pickle lover ... these were perfection. Beef tongue has a nice texture, I thought the green radish was cooked nicely. Visited Grapes & Soda this evening for Valentine’s Day. Made a reservation was seated immediately. We started with gin cocktails which were delicious, followed by their feature starter Oysters and again; delicious. Unfortunately when we then ordered our next course, sourdough & sun chokes and more drinks, we were forgotten about for ... 20 minutes, along with the table next to us who had empty beverages for 20 minutes. Love this place! First time here and it felt like a FIND! My dining partner thought so too. It was recommended by a friend who knows Vancouver, so I shouldn't have been surprised. The daily cocktail I had (they had two on the boards) was one of the best drinks I ... have ever had and I have confidence that's likely going to be true with most drinks I will likely get here in the future. The food was unique in content and match ups. I loved the tempura corn, the melon appy, the heirloom tomatoes, and the melon dessert. All of them had interesting additions. I could go on but don't have time to write as much this time. My dining partner requested more servers please. It was packed by the time we were leaving and it seemed like it was just one server. Love the cocktails and sitting by the counter watching the bartender make them. Had 4 cocktails all of them were yummy. Shiso I liked the most. Wish there were more food options(sashimi) but really its about coming here to drink and have some snacks. They have a special ... of the day which occasionally changes.
