Laksa - very smooth and mild curry broth. The dollop of sambal was perfect! Arrive hungry as the portion is big and with plenty of protein (shredded chicken & a boiled egg)! The rice noodles stood out as I ate really slowly and they did not bloat. Still maintained a ... great bite. Service is quick and food court like. Order at the front and pick up when your number is called. When you’re done your meal, you bring your dishes to the tray and separate your dishes form the tray. Instructions are posted. Cozy space with tables and counter top seating. Definitely grab a seat by the window! Read more
I started coming here about 28 years ago, and after being married for 20 years, finally got my husband to come here with me. We had the hainamese chicken rice, chicken curry with rice and roti with curry gravy. The food was really good and came quickly. The flavours ... were so good and the seating is still casual and self serve. Budget friendly. My husband said "yes, i will come back" . Score! Now i can come more often, not just with friends! Best Laksa noodle in Vancouver. Nice thick soup not too spicy but still got a nice strong flavour of coconut and spices. Will go back again to try the curry dishes. We also order Mee Soto, it was nice and simple. I like the Chinese Celery in the soup. The place has few ... tables, not for large parties dining. There were lots of take out order. The last call is at 7pm so make sure to get there before. Price was very reasonable and big portions. Read more
If you’re expecting a true hawker style experience this is what you’ll get here. Items are pretty affordable and portions are very large. Nasi lamak came with some of the most fragrant coconut rice I’ve had in North America. However it didn’t come with the small fried fish and whatever ... sauce they used that was thrown sambal I assume wasn’t spicy. Spice of the prawn noodles was however on point, though the laksa could have been much spicer. Laksa overall seemed to be a bit underwhelming, with the noodles not being quite the right consistency and a distinctive lack of the spicy-sourness I’m used to Just like a true hawker stall, seating is very tight and minimal here. I saw several people leaving bc there just wasn’t seating. Don’t expect service here. You get your own water, utensils and dumb your used trays out into a bucket. It’s true Malaysian style which may not be for everyone if they’re not expecting it. Debit and cash only Read more
I ordered the dish at home "Fried kuey teow spicy", In the description it mentions bringing shrimp, fish cake and chicken, of which it only brought 1 shrimp, really only 1 and 3 slices of fish cake. Regardless of that, the flavor and spiciness is the same as the ... above, practically leaving much to be desired. Read more
