Best all you can eat sushi I have encountered in the Vancouver area. The food was fine, of good quality, with good presentation and lots of variety was available on the menu. For the price you pay it's really quite good for what you get. Plus, a cute robot delivers ... your food. No complaints. It's nice to still have all you can eat sushi places exist when there is inflation everywhere and a la Carte sushi becomes too expensive to fill you up. Inside vibe is cold (in temperature and ambiance). Food is very average. Most definitely not worth it for the price - we paid $95 for two people’s AYCE dinner. I would highly recommend going through the 1 star reviews and the replies for recreation purpose while you wait. We were really satisfied and everyone had a hard time walking. People who carry so much hate about the price is better off with a McDonald happy meal, likely that’s the only ... thing for the price where they could find happiness. I've been going to this restaurant for over 12 years. Tomokazu was special to us because we had our awkward first date here when we were teenagers, so we were really excited when we heard they will continue their operations under new ownership. Experience here always had its ups and downs ... (which we were fine with) so I will only give my impressions based on my visit today compared to just before they exchanged ownership almost 3 months ago. We also went when they are still in the middle of soft opening. The entire operations/menu/decor are being turned over so during your visit, things may be a lot different! -the dinner menu changed(previous there were 3 tiers to the menu and had more options) they removed things like oyster motoyaki and certain rolls/sashimi options. The menu is now $36.95 per person, which was on par with their most expensive menu option prior to new ownership. We were fine with a smaller menu because all of the stuff they removed, we didnt order them before anyway, and i assumed most people didnt either. - the service is more "refined" and attentive. Waiters ask you what you would like to drink as soon as you sit down, they constantly check up on you, and sometimes they explain a certain roll/food item to you when they present a plate. It feels nicer and more welcoming but i wouldnt say its better. You had every server coming to your table so the same questions are asked several times. I had to ask for soy sauce/ginger/wasabi(although they did give them to me nicely and said i can ask for as much as i want), wrong orders still get sent to your table(though they are really nice to bring them away when you also ask them nicely to), again this is during soft opening so I expected hiccups. The old auntie servers are no longer there. -food quality didnt change much, tho they added some items, like squid cooked a few different ways. Sushi rolls are way nicer(more filling/less rice, ingredients are generally more fresh). sashimi still come semi frozen/semi room temperature depending which fish you get. Chicken karage recipe changed. Its less crispy/less battered. The sauce in age dashi tofu changed, its more flavorful. The batter for tempura changed. Its no longer soggy but not over battered. They put our dessert spoons in its own seperate cup so they dont have to touch your savory plate/the table. Plates have changed to match decor(and its still made of melamine) We tried some new items, like grilled squid. It wasnt seasoned evenly but otherwise tasted like what you would get at the night market. Eel and aburi sushi was nice. The fish/rice ratio with Nigiri is more even. Rice is higher quality. -the entire decor has changed. It feels way more open and bright. Its a completely different restaurant(and imo quite nice) -picture attached is an accurate representation to everything the two of us ate. We paid $89 which included a 15% tip. Honestly i wouldve tipped more cuz i thought the servers tried their best lol but $89 was up there for dinner out(particularly so for sushi in this city). I'm not sure if we will come back(as least as often as we did) because we cant eat enough to "take advantage" of this restaurant, but if you can eat more than us, then maybe its more worth if to you! For us, we enjoyed the variety and being able to try a lot of things, while still paying a similar price as what we would typically pay for a sushi dinner, but i feel like i can probably get a better deal for the same we paid for here if we had a la carte next time. Same price after all these years going here. First time back in half a decade. Had to wait awhile for food to come but not a big problem. The food is decent for all you can eat sushi. They don't have avocado maki/roll on the 'all you can eat' menu which is ... kind of a bummer. Read more
