A little gem tucked away near the library and a bike shop. I had stopped by several sushi places in the area and stumbled upon Sushi Sonoya…. So glad I did. I was with a co worker and we were very pleased.

The service was far from satisfactory, with the waitress displaying a level of rudeness that was quite surprising. If you only want to serve takeaway customers, you can say it. We were by the library and decided to try Sonoya. We were greeted by a friendly server and were quickly seated. The miso soup came first. It was yummy and had plenty of seaweed. The only thing missing was some green onions to garnish and tofu. My ... assorted tempura came next. The batter was light and crispy. My one complaint was that it was assorted tempura but only came with yam and prawns. The chirashi don was well priced and came with a good assortment of sashimi. Great place to have Japanese food in a nice casual restaurant. I ate lunch here almost every day while staying downtown. Service is fast and friendly, the place is clean and well maintained. Update: This place continually surprises me. Chicken Udon was so good/portion was huge (going to ask for the Chicken on the side next time as it gets soggy). Chicken Karaage was absolutely amazing!!
