Ramen Gojiro - Vancouver, British Columbia

Went for an afternoon lunch with my co-worker. The space is definitely cramped to say the least. I normally enjoy my ramen noodles on the thinner side but the one I ordered today had Thick Noodles. I also generally prefer firmer noodles, but it felt like the noodles today were a ... tad bit undercooked (doughy texture). The Broth was incredibly rich, although I would normally opt for a less richer broth option. I would still recommend ordering the Yokohama Iekei Ramen. The Char Siu is incredibly soft and tender--extremely flavorful. The portions were incredibly generous. The Pork Gyoza was wonderfully juicy as well, not a huge fan of the dipping sauce that comes with it. Overall, I would highly recommend this place if you're around. It's probably worth the walk from Tokyo Mazesoba. Read more

Was looking for a ramen place nearby and found this place. Coming from Calgary, I don't usually see chashu with chicken broth so thought I'd try it. It was pretty good! I think it was a bit saltier than I would have expected for chicken broth, but still not bad. I ... would've preferred thin noodles though and I didn't realize you could change it until later since the server didn't ask me. Also the wait for the ramen took quite a while. If you’re going to a jiro ramen places, you obviously have to get the bakamori ramen 😂 this is why you’re here. I got it with karaage (fried chicken) and light broth - really good combination! We loved the ramen here so much we went twice during our visit to the downtown area. Both times we had the Basic Karaage and Yokohama Iekei ramen, it was that good! Fast, friendly service. Place is always busy during lunch hour, smallish place with seating/tables cramped together. Nice place for a quick casual meal. Singles sit at the counter Semi open kitchen smack in the middle of the restaurant Normal ramen selections with either char siu or karage chicken protein options. Big difference is the amount ... of noodles given which is alot, hence the name "Jiro" Choice of "rich" or "light" soup base. Rich is creamier/saltier. The basic ramen noodles were firm and I have to admit one of the chewiest I've had. The"rich" soup base was excellent, full body and flavorful, keep a glass of water nearby to cut into the saltiness between slurps.
