Ogenki Sushi - Vancouver, British Columbia

The vegan crab oshi here is my favourite food in the entire world! Ogenki has been my go-to spot for a few years now. I love the extensive vegan options. I find the prices are good, the service is usually good too and it's never too busy.

Do not recommend. I am picky about sushi quality, for obvious reasons. If you plan to order any salmon sashimi or salmon roll, be aware the quality is awful. Highly recommend Sushi Mania down the street, their quality is much superior, and they are actually cheaper in price. They were ... closed so decided to try Ogenki. We wanted to try Ogenki because we were thrilled by the creative vegan sushi offerings. The sushi was good, and I enjoyed the vegan takes on classic sushi rolls. I enjoyed the miso as well. Our server was quite rude. They were not friendly or pleasant, and we felt very rushed. ... They made some off-putting comments towards us. My Plant Curious coupon book brought me to Ogenki! The friendly FOH staffer let me know I could choose from additional vegan rolls not listed on the coupon, so I had a Summer Roll and Totem Roll. At $14.95, they're not "cheap," but they were tasty rolls. They don't skimp ... on the toppings of avocado or inari. I'm not sure what ingredients are in their vegan cream cheese, but it's a pretty spot on substitute! The vegan crab meat was OK, I believe it was made of tofu shreds. The yam tempura added a nice sweetness. My takeout order of 2 rolls came with a small mix of salad leaves as garnish. Overall, a solid spot with vegan sushi options! Good sushi with friendly service. We stopped by for a late dinner and were served quickly. The prices for the different rolls were reasonable and they have a huge vegan menu. Their unagi and house rolls are also pretty tasty. Good neighborhood spot for tasty, well-priced sushi!
