A single line. The best Indian food I have ever eaten in my life, period. I would leave it here but my husband would criticize me if I don't say why. Well her we go. Starting with the warm and welcoming welcome from the owner himself with a unique ... smile. Second, the atmosphere worthy of a 5-star restaurant. The music and the courtesy of the waiter made me feel like we were the only ones in a full restaurant. Then the deliciousness of the food… Wow with a capital letter. That drink that I will never forget, a taste between the sky and the mountains. The dish we ordered was the best lamb I have ever eaten, a flavor that never interrupted each of the ingredients, it was like eating everything separately but at the same time together. I can not explain it. Come and you will understand why. It is the best restaurant in the world for me. I would return a thousand times more Read more
Certainly the best Indian meal of my life, in a lovely setting. The chicken curry will change your life, but the coconut rice pudding set me on a path to nirvana. And the samosas …. Oh so good!
The food no longer dazzles, suggesting Vij’s is not the national dining destination it once was. I remember when this restaurant was a landmark dining destination in Canada, complete with very positive reviews from respected authorities. Today’s meal was far from that and didn’t provide real value for money. $16.50 for two ... bland potato samosas, with an extra $3.00 charge for (an admittedly tasty) tamarind chutney sauce?! At those prices there needs to be some meat in there. The lamb popsicles are a signature dish, and they were much better, but again not the scintillating flavors from the glory days. If anything, I felt the whole dish needed more salt - especially the sauce. Just three small lamb pieces cost $33, which is a reflection of the high ingredient cost, and maybe it is time to switch to a different cut. Service was very friendly although not totally smooth. It started when I didn’t get a menu and finished with my server ending their shift and just disappearing. These are hard times in the restaurant business, but hopefully this restaurant can regain its former magic. Read more
It’s been 20 years since I’ve been here. Originally a frequent customer at the original location. Love the new location and set up and the service was good but not great. When the food comes out, the food server just pushes everyone on the table and offered very little explanation of ... what was been provided. The actual waiter was great and incredibly hospitable. But the managers need to know that the way food is placed on a table needs to be more deliberate and less intrusive. It was off putting when the server dropped a large empty bowl for bones onto me. Food was good…but I’ve had just as good Indian in North Vancouver too. Read more
Some of the best Indian food I have ever had. The lamb Popsicles are devine. The goat was great. It's very flavourful, but not too hot. Every thing we tried was excellent.
