Nirvana Restaurant - Vancouver, British Columbia

Nirvana seems to be owner operator operations. The lady at the front counter is really sweet and caring. However for the ambience I would give it a 4 star out of 5. Customer service 5 out of 5. Not being from the area I came to Indian food in a tourist ... area. The location has good business for to go and sit down. Most of the customers are non-indian. As we ordered our food starving, we were surprisingly shocked by lack of taste, and flavor of the food. I would suggest if your taste more with Indian spices maybe head to Surrey. In Vancouver for Pride weekend and a getaway. Google searched Indian restaurant near me while at "the village" and Nirvana restaurant was just 15 minutes walk from me. I ordered Lamb Vindaloo and opted for 5 spicy level, just because I haven't had chilly in a bit. This meal tasted ... like a homemade one, and together with the ginger Naan bread, the treat was worth. The masala chai tea was also very good for the tea lovers. And oh, did I tell you about how super friendly the staff is? So when in Vancouver downtown, drop by in there and get your belly filled really good. Because that's exactly how I am feeling right now. Dimly lit, intimate setting. Food was great - I had the non veg plate which was lamb curry & butter chicken with basmati rice and naan. I preferred the butter chicken. Not pictured are the two biggest pieces of naan I've ever seen which tasted great especially with the sauces

Today, February 16, Tuesday, for the second time, I have been delighted to eat at Nirvana. There is, seemingly no dish here, that is not....delicious. Today I had Prawn Biryani. Missed Indian food as that's what I grew up with. The service was very good. Restaurant was quite empty but we like the peace and quiet. Cost is pretty decent for a good meal. The garlic naan and other naans are really good, doesn't cost too much either. Had the ... tandoori chicken for myself and it was great. All the curry tastes good.
