This restaurant offers exceptional value for the price, with generous portions and a generous serving of meat in each dish. While the meat dishes could benefit from a bit more wok flavor, I highly recommend this place for a satisfying weeknight takeout. The large prawns they use are particularly impressive!
East Vancouver's own seafood and dim sum restaurant. I enjoyed the great dim sum on a weekday afternoon.
Most of the food was tasty, biggest pieces of dim sum we have seen or eaten. Soy noodles were not very flavourful and their squid was fried to perfection
Came here for the Alaskan King Crab dinner with my family this week and it was amazing and super reasonably priced. They pre-order the crab once you confirm your reservation and show you the crab before bringing it into the kitchen to cook (it was alive and flailing). The crab ... was perfectly cooked into 4 dishes. The legs and claws were steamed with garlic, the body fried with salt/pepper/shallot/garlic, seafood fried rice was baked into the shell, and residual meat/juice was used to poach some yuchoy. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted fresh and delicious. Service was amazing too. You have to drive through some shady areas of Vancouver, but definitely work the trip. Pelican is a long-standing staple in East Van. Been a few years since we last visited but found ourselves in the area in Jun 2024 so stopped by for dim sum. There's a reason this place is still in business... all of the dishes came out piping hot which is nice. We ... had the beef and cilantro rice rolls - the filling also had water chestnuts I believe. The bean curd wrappers in oyster sauce didn't skimp out on filling. Tasty clams in black bean sauce had a bit of spicy kick in the dreamy sauce. In addition to Shanghai style noodles, we also got some large siu mai dumplings. Almost as large as the ones you see at Western Lake. We also liked the sticky rice wraps... sometimes these can be dry inside but the sticky rice came out nice and juicy. Overall, all the dishes were pretty good. Read more
