The Ellis Bar & Restaurant - Vancouver, British Columbia

Unfortunately I don’t think this food is for take out , I wanted so bad to love this local establishment and thought the place itself is lovely and looks like a great place to be ! But the food I ordered for take out fell short . The fries are ... old and dry and dark in colour showing me the oil needs to be changed I know Kennebec potatoes have a higher sugar content so they can discolour quickly but these just are not fresh nor made with clean oil and definitely were made long before I ordered sitting under a heat lamp in the pass through. The burger was tiny , and extremely salty and dry. I was warmed it would be well done due to it being take out it- but this is like chewing leather sadly the flavour profile fell short and for $30 and having to drive to pick it up was purely just disappointing I would like to try a dine in experience and see if the food is better. And give this local hidden gem another go, as I believe establishments like this are crucial for our community and need all the support and love so I hope I can give a raving review next time around . Service, Food, Atmosphere, all five stars! The burgers were awesome and the side salad & truffle fries were delicious. Definitely make a reservation on a Friday night, they were busy, but food still came out fast and the servers were all kind. Patio looks killer.

The drink was great as well as the Fries. The Sandwich was OK . But looks like drink and snack is more popular here. We sat on the patio which is dog friendly. 🐾 Overall a good experience for this neighborhood.

Ellis is a good choice for trying their tasty cocktails that they have in their menu! I was there last night for drinking and having snacks and dessert. We ordered the dark lagers which was good and I orders lady gray which was amazing, so I went for second round as ... well. We also ordered the soup that was tasteless, no salt, no pepper even I added some, but it didn’t change its taste still was bland. The wings with salt and pepper was average, the lava chocolate cake was good. We also orders the especial Ellis burger which was far from our expectations like bad smell, undercooked. The service was super nice and professional which we were so happy with our service. Overall, I only recommend this place to my friends for drinking and trying their delicious cocktails not food.
