Food was terrible. Who makes a hamburger without any kind of sauce? Service was equally as bad. Showing cleavage isn't a substitute for remembering my order (writing it down would have helped). One server on for a full house (Special event).

Has a great stand up comedy night on wednesdays. Also the 50c wings are godly! The staff are really friendly!

Go for the events, just keep expectations low... been there several times as they do host some good events there, however the service and food are both usually quite bad. last time we were there for example, we were sitting for about 15 minutes with no menu, water, drinks etc.. ... so go grab our own menus, and finally flag down a waitress and order some drinks. having been there before we know there is a happy hour that runs until 7pm, and there were drink specials advertised on the facebook event. well, apparently they were not going to honour those as our waitress said since it was so busy people would be "stealing all the drinks" during happy hour.. uhhh, what??? since when is having paying customers stealing? anyway, we've tried almost everything on the menu (including items not actually written down, they don't seem to actually print new copies of the menu, instead crossing items out) and they all have one thing in common - lack of seasoning. Seems their kitchen staff have a major salt shortage! the portions are decent at least, but you sort of have to be starving.. twice in one night we had the waitress forget about drinks we had ordered, ended up waiting a long time for both even after reminding her. As mentioned in other reviews, the bar staff seem to be much better than the waitress, around the end of the night they seem to take over and our service improved greatly. Too bad they didn't make up the bad service in any way. also as mentioned, the bathroom is not maintained well (mens anyway), often no paper towel, or hot water, or soap even! ew. in summary, would not recommend if it were not for the events hosted there! This restaurant actually rates a 3, 3.5, or a 4 depending on when you go. I've given it the most generous of those star ratings because the middle one wasn't an option. The food is good. Not great, nothing unique, but then you're most likely not just stopping in at this ... little neighbourhood haunt just for a meal. The place is event driven, hosting everything from comedy nights, to jazz, to the CD release party for some small eclectic band that everyone at UBC is raving about. The bar staff are fabulous, though it's often evident they left work the night before and went partying themselves. It's that sort of place, and I always love a seat at the bar just to hear their banter. On nights when the entertainment on stage is less than stellar, you can rely on the fact that the bartender and server wit will make up for it! If you see something worthwhile to check out on stage here you should venture out. If not give it a miss until there's something worthwhile. Read more

We had a really bad experience at Seven Dining Lounge. Let me start this off by saying that we are in no way fussy restaurant-goers - we do not expect 5* service and food at every place we go to. The least we expect is to be served a meal ... that is worth the price we are paying, and service that is worth the amount we are tipping. We mainly went here as a friend's band was playing so thought we would grab food at the same time. We were told upon arrival that they were busier than usual due to a Groupon promotion that they were running. I thought it odd that this was the case, yet they didn’t seem to have planned for it at all - there were only 2 wait staff working and only 1 guy in the kitchen! Surely even on a non-busy day, a minimum of 2 staff is necessary in a kitchen catering for a space that large. Anyway, we waited around 10 minutes to be given menus and offered drinks. We then ordered our food and proceeded to then wait an hour and a half, for two fairly simple dishes (pasta dish and a meat sandwich with fries.) We noticed that people that had arrived and ordered after us were receiving their meals before us, too. After an hour of waiting we asked our waitress what the hold-up was and she simply laughed and said that 'the guy in the kitchen was scaring her' and that she daren't ask him where our food was. No apology after that - she just walked away. We were pretty fed up by this point and considered just leaving and eating somewhere else. Then a different waiter came over and was much more apologetic and offered to find out where our food was. We then waited another half an hour without being offered a re-fill on our drinks, or any appetizers or snacks to keep us going. Even some bread or a bowl of chips would have been a nice gesture, but we got nothing. When our meals finally came they were pretty cold and the food was bland, but we were so ravenous that we just ate them anyway. There were no condiments on the table so we couldn’t even add salt to make our meals little tastier. Every time we tried to flag down our waitress she ignored us or looked straight past us. In the end the other waiter ended up taking over the service of our table as he could see we were being ignored. When we got the bill we were not even offered any compensation for the rude service, the long wait or the cold food – we had to state we expected a discount and in the end we got $12 off – the price of two drinks, which I did not feel was enough, but at that stage in the night we were so fed up and tired that we just wanted to settle up and go home. We were really disappointed with everything about this place – the place itself was cold and drafty and the bathrooms were unclean and had no way to dry your hands after washing them.
