Cactus Club Cafe - Vancouver, British Columbia

Cactus Club had been on my list for a while and had been hyped up by people on social media, sadly my experience here didn't match up. The ambience is great, I can especially imagine it during a sports event. Being a vegetarian the options were very limited. The szechuan lettuce wraps ... was probably the best item we had. We also tried the garden burger (it does come with a patty even though the menu doesn't mention the patty) and the crispy tofu bowl both of which were okay and didn't particularly leave an impression on us. We asked if we could sub the patty with the impossible patty and we were refused, which kind of surprised me. I also had the espresso martini and most other places would have more alcohol in it. The service was mostly great but on at least two occasions we had to give reminders (for hot sauce etc and not for the main food) and so the third time when we needed something we decided to just skip the hassle. I came here twice. It's an ok place to meet your friend, but it feels so dead. It didn't give us a welcoming vibe. The food and drinks are good. It might be good for dating, though! I wouldn't come back to this location since it didn't seem alive ... and fun to me and my friend. Read more

We order from cactus at LEAST once a week - but typically order from a different location. The hot pickles were fatty, cold, and they did not include dip. They were poorly dressed. The zen roll seemed to have had the taro on top swapped out for wontons (which I can’t eat ... because I’m gluten free). Both went into the garbage. We called, but after 10 minutes on hold no one answered. Surprising for a quiet Sunday night. Absolutely will not return or order again from this location. Poor service. Go to a different location! This place had been on my list for a while and I finally got a chance to try it out last week. I went during one of the Canucks vs Edmonton games and the place was buzzing! Thankfully I'd done advance reservations online. The place has a nice vibe, great seating, ... and a separate area for sports enthusiasts. In fact even their urinals each had a private screen so you don't miss the action 😂 I tried this drink called Soul Refresher that was made out of turmeric ginger jalapeno, and was worth every penny. The attentive and knowledgeable bartenders Celine and Zach guided me through the menu and drinks with expert recommendations. One standout dish that I ... must mention is the signature Cactus Club burger. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, it showed off the chef's skill and expertise. Paired with a side of truffle fries, it was a match made in foodie heaven. To top off the meal, I indulged in a decadent dessert that left me craving more. The cheesecake was the perfect sweet ending to an exquisite dining experience. Overall, Cactus Club exceeded my expectations in every way.
