Absolutely love this place, such a hidden gem! Super cozy atmosphere decorated with fresh flowers and handmade trinkets. Friendly staff with a wonderful attention to detail. Happened to drive past this place while driving on Hastings, and was drawn in by the wooden sign and logo, so me and my partner made a note to try it out some time and it did not disappoint! Inside it has very warm vibes, kind of bringing me back to ... some of the places I have visited in Japan, the menu is small and concise, easy to decide on what to get. I ordered the pork bowl which had one of the most tender pork I have ever eaten, and my partner ordered the vegan bowl which was very sizable and well seasoned. Yama Café is a delightful spot that is reminiscent of an authentic small town Japanese café. Although there were only three food items, they were all delicious. The pork belly bowl was super tender and soft with a sweet and savoury gravy. The Tuna tataki was tasty and refreshing. The ... Matcha latté was especially good and would highly recommend it.
