Moonpennies is kinda hit or miss, the lunch menu is typically very tasty, if overpriced, but sometimes it's just bad. The pasta salad I got today was literally just cold pasta, there was supposed to be olives and feta, and I literally got zero of both. it was just cold pasta ... and olive oil. What, did you run out of feta and olives? I'm not the first reviewer here to complain about a dearth of feta on a dish. tried the wild bc salmon sandwich with lettuce, tomato and a dill cheese. The sandwich was 75% bread with almost no filling. The cheese was so thin it was imperceptible, and the salmon so overwhelmed by the bread that it was hardly noticeable either. the tomato and lettuce were fresh at least. for a $13 sandwich I expected it to be loaded with at LEAST 3x as much filling. I am disappoint. Normally I have a better experience, so I'm calling this a middle of the road place, but you could easily end up with a 4 or 2 star experience depending on how management feels that day. Was not worth the $15, hell, wasn't worth half of that. I've eaten here more than a dozen times and not once would I call it a five star place or a one star place. Read more
One of the worst breakfast experiences I have ever had. One person working behind the counter yelled at me very loudly in front of the entire restaurant, for no clear reason, when I went to pick up my food. The food itself was terrible (cold, uncooked), the coffee burnt, and ... they made several mistakes with our simple order. By the time the food came, my partner and I had no time left to eat together, and I took my very terrible breakfast to go. We paid over $30.00 for this experience. I will never return, which is a shame as I work next door. I had never left a negative review for any restaurant prior to today, but this was an exceptionally bad experience. Read more
$26 for 2 breakfasts & I was expecting something wonderful. That was not the case for us on our visit to Vancouver. It took us both by surprise when the meal arrived within 4 minutes of placing our order. The waitress was very dippy to say the least. My knife & ... fork handles were placed over the fried eggs, we had no napkins, no salt, pepper or condiments (which we got when we asked for them). THE MEAL!! The toast had hardly seen the grill it was still cold bread. The opposite can be said for the bacon, it was cold & so crispy that it crumbled as soon as you touched it & the hash brown was cold again without any seasoning what so ever. My wife had the Spinach & Feta omelette....they must of been low on the Feta, we counted 5 pieces. So I went to the counter with my plate. The chef was understanding in his open kitchen but, the manager was a bit rude when he abruptly interrupted the chef & I & told me to speak to him & only him which he repeated twice as I tried to explain our disappointment. We got half a refund & left.....never to return to Moonpennies or to recommend to any of our friends. By the way.....I'm a chef from the UK. Gordan would rip you guys a new one NO STARS..Had to press one star so I could publish We have had way better breakfast for $5 at the Sandpiper in Harrison Mills Read more
Very friendly, great service. "We are best known for our Eggs Benny, but if you like something sweet the Belgian Waffles are my favorite!" We were told as we walked through the door and he couldn't have been more spot on. The coffee is strong and the food is great, we ... will be back @ Moonpennies. Read more
This place has the best soups and lunches and their blueberry squares are phenomenal. I also felt compelled to write because their customer service is very is pretty outstanding. I just bought a soup and by the time I got to the office i realized they hadn't put ... the lid on right and the soup had spilled in the plastic carry bag. I didn't have time to rush back but thought I would call to see if they would give me a credit for a future soup, to my complete surprise they immediately sent someone to walk over to my office to drop off a new soup! Needless to say its not often you get wonderful customer service like that - thank you Moonpennies - this was unparalleled customer service - i will be back often! Read more
