Have the carrot cake. You will love it. I did. Hearts & Vine is a perfect spot for a break or more. I stopped mid morning between the rushes. The carrot cake was generous with a lovely whipped icing that was not too heavy. The cappuccino was hot—something far ... too many Vancouver coffee places seem incapable of doing. Little touches like real metal spoons that I used to enjoy the foam on my cappuccino made me feel looked after. Comfortable seating at high and low tables and all along the West facing window. It's a decent family-run café on Vine Street just off West Broadway, so it's easy to miss unless you're walking by. The breakfast was on the pricey side for the amount of food you get, the toast wasn't as warm as I would have enjoyed, a second top-up of coffee ... isn't provided, so ask for the coffee to-go. When I spoke to the perhaps owner/server, she didn't comply with any type of positive feedback, and it didn't seem like she really cared either! The way to a customers heart, and I might say... repeat service, is to be a bit more open and friendly. Read more

Small coffee shop. Friendly vibe. Spent half an hour there happily working on my laptop. Much cheaper and quieter than Platform 7, which is across the street on Broadway.
